  • Aarey Colony

Yesterday chicmagnet (Nishant) & myself did a quick recce of Aarey Colony to search for potential spots where we can carry out our first session of DIY G2G.

We met at Aarey Toll Plaza and proceeded towards the first location which is a public ground next to New Zealand Hostel as seen in the map. There is ample space for parking and also benches to sit. The only concern is cricket teams which can be expected to capture the ground being a Sunday. But we can assemble early and use the ground space behind the benches to carry out our session as seen in the pic below :-

Next we saw couple of other spots but dropped them from the list of probables as they lacked seating arrangement. The only other spot found compatible was this space resembling amphitheater as shown below :-

We can also use the space behind this building on the right.

As seen in the album, chicmagnet has shown the landmarks on the Aarey road to reach these two spots.

I request the navi mumbai and central suburb team to come up with the pics and details of their location (Reti bunder, Kharghar hill) so that we can finalise the venue ASAP.

Has anyone contacted Reddy Sir for his consent to conduct DIY G2G at his Garage ?? ... If not velociraptor13 (Rakesh) please follow up.

PS: Aarey colony venue is preferred as its easily accessible to both western and central suburb riders and being Sunday traffic should not be an issue. Also its a pleasant place away from hustle-bustle of mumbai life.

          hi
i went for a small survey at retibunder today evening. took some pics with my mobile cam. but it was a bit dark. so the pics are useless. but there is no sitting arrangement available there. or no shed or anything like that. i would recommend the aarey place above retibunder. my personal opinion. will try to go there tomorrow and take some pics in daylight. cant promise though.

I really appreciate you visiting that place ... good to see atleast some one taking the initiative there .... Thanks a lot

Today velociraptor13 (Rakesh) and me visited Reddy's place and had a talk with him regarding the DIY session. Due to BMC road widening and redevelopment of his shop, he would be shifting to a nearby garage temporarily from tomorrow itself. The work will take 2-3 months to complete. He has agreed to conduct workshop at his place but only after his shop gets renovated.

So we have decided to conduct our second or third DIY session at his place. Till then we will cover the basics which any of our seniors can teach us.

Also regarding the venue, I think lets keep it at MotionFreak's place. He is a technically sound xBhpian and would surely help us in carrying out our first DIY Session successfully. He stays somewhere in Thane and would surely not mind us crashing at his place

Its just a proposal, hopefully it makes sense to you all.

                    • @Rony - Talk with GS. He is ready to help for the DIY session

What's the final timing for the meet? If this is happening in open then I suggest that keep it as early as possible say 6.30a.m.

@Motionfreak - Where exactly we are doing it? Is it a parking area or an open land?

P.S: Sorry for coming so late in this thread but now I'm here

Seating is not a big issue, shade is. That's why its better to start it at 6.30. The session should finish by 8.00

                            • oye MG, my name is missing in the first page

so we are going to asish's place for they DIY eh? Asish, it will be great if you could bring us breakfast too pappa

yes shade is very important since we are not going to be moving anywhere!

isn't there any ground wherein they have shades? (too much to ask since I have not contributed anything to this so far.. but just a thought!)
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

                              • How about the ground at ninad's colony, It's big enough for DIY, and I guess there are enough tree's for shade there. Though will have to confirm with him because I haven't been to the colony in some time.
