Nice to see a Pondy xbhp gang. I am from Pondicherry but work has brought me to Hyderabad. I do visit Pondy on a monthly basis as my parents are down there.

Will be down there on a long leave during December. Hoping to catch up with the gang.

Are you taking this route - Kollam - Madurai - Tiruchirapalli - Cuddalore - Pondi ?

If yes, then you need to be careful in the last leg of your journey nearing Cuddalore. Traffic increases considerably and cops stop you for speeding. [Personal experience: CHN - Thnjavur trip]
But, I guess you'll find more helping hands in the Chennai g2g thread.

Pondy was / is my favourite place...lived there for 3yrs and enjoyed each bit of it, still cherish the memories of Pondicherry. Had a wonderful team there and still in touch with most of them. 10yrs now I have moved out of Pondy and couldnt go there again in these many years.
