No man will be a marine engineer who has contrivance enough to get himself into a jail;for being in a ship is being in jail, with a chance of being drowned.A man in a jail has more room, better food and commonly better company.

OMG! Looks like the whole state is going to make this a big issue. How many times do i have to say this? I wasn't comparing anything here
What i was trying to say was that every ninja owner can go upto a driver and say that his bike costs as much as his car.

Welcome Nikhil,
You see, most people have heard some guys say, "You could have bought a maruti for that amount" whenever they announce the price of their rides. It's just a reflex to get our hackles raised when we hear that kind of talk. No offense meant.
BTW, we have a new member in the family, my sis's scooter. It's a Kinetic, I mean Mahindra-SYM Flyte.
We did consider an Activa, but the price (47.5K+ 1K-3K for 'accessories' like number-plates, ladies footrest, left mirror, kick-start pedal rubber (yup)
), ridiculous waiting time (4 months!!!) and the crappy attitude of the sales people at both Marikar and EVM turned us off completely. I think that the white labcoats they wear make them feel like brain surgeons.
While we were shopping around, we had a look at the scooter from Global Motors. It's called the UFO 0150, and it's like a mini-Blaze (remember the Kinetic Blaze?) The exhaust looks awesome, and the tyres are 100/90-12 Dunlops/MRFs with a round profile. They look very sticky. Nothing tacky about it. The silencer looks like really nice. Lots of features too, like front disc, remote start, alloys etc. And the price was 47K on-road. Sis liked it, but she had trouble keeping her feet on the ground, and it was heavy.
This is their site and here's a pic.
This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D

Yeah we did look at the new models. The Rodeo is basically the Flyte, with digital meters, a sidestand buzzer, slightly different front end, seperate front mudguard, new paint schemes/stickers and MRF Zappers. It was only less than 3K more, but the Flyte was such a good deal at 44000 on road. The Duro is about 1.5K less, but it is the old Nova with the Flyte's SYM 125cc engine. It's a good bike, but it was a bit taller, and also had the old style front forks, not the telescopic ones on the Flyte/Rodeo. There was also a 25 day wait for the Rodeo/Duro. They are both available in some excellent colors though. The white Duro looks really good.Originally posted by goatiguru29 View PostVivek...its a nice choice...4 yrs back i had 3 months waiting period for my activa...but there service to me was top notch...flyte is the best option for ladies definently...but have you considered the rodeo and duro from mahindra stable....
Reg. Honda delays, it's because if the strike at the plant. They said that they had orders from July onwards. But what really irked me was their attitude. You walk into a showroom, and they're all just sitting around lazily, talking on phones and such. It's the same at Hero Honda dealers too. They don't care if you don't buy because there will be ten others who will pay through the nose, and more for things like side stands and mirrors which should come standard in the first place, and still think that they are getting the best ever deal.
Oh, I tried to make sis buy the big scooter, but she just couldn't touch her feet on the ground from atop the UFO. That's why we got the Flyte. I even tried telling her that we could get the seat cut to size!Originally posted by balajidiwakar View Postwell what can I say vivek looking at the silencer I feel that the Almighty has blessed you guys, two wheelers with FFE
No Raksha! But the Flyte is really good in the city, feels very quick, esp. the initial take-off. I think that the Access might be quicker. Didn't get a chance to test-drive the UFO, as they didn't have a bike on the street level
. But I asked an owner, and he told me that the big scoot had really good pickup, but the mileage was only 40-45.
I'll post some pics of my FFE after I wash the bike.Last edited by VivekGK; 11-04-2009, 11:40 PM.This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D
