                xBhp BBSR G2G: Day 1

When archi first told me about his homecoming, I was bound to spread the news among the BULLZzz. The guys were excited on hearing this, coz all we had done so far were small trips around the town, never more than 250 km at a once. But this guy, who had covered the long roads in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, was definitely someone to look upto. Once the message was out, the guys started querying about the time and location. I just told them to hold their horses!

On his arrival, archi gave me a call and we decided to meet at XIMD CCD, which was also the location of the first BBSR G2G. By eight in the evening, some of us there and discussing if anyone had seen the guy's pic and how to identify him. I called up archi and found him stuck in the traffic, so we settled down outside CCD and waited for him. Soon, we saw a yellow bike being parked in the front and saw someone fumbling with his cellphone. I thought maybe this is the guy, but told others that he drives a Unicorn. But then it struck me that his bike was in Delhi, so this must be him. The yellow bike brought back some flashes at the back of my head, but I was still unable to place the bike. The guy came nearer, dialing on his cell, and soon found my cell ringing. It was archi!!

After the welcome and a round of introductions, we settled down, gaping at the gear carried by archi. As he opened his camera case, my jaw dropped right out seeing the Canon EOS-series cam. The cam did seem daunting up front, even though I had seen it in pictures earlier. Rohit snaps a few pics of the cam itself, while archi was setting up a tripod nearby. Soon, more fellows from our group arrive and we are already in deep discussion with archi. Boy, he's got rides to boast of, which we can't even think of doing anytime soon. Like the trip to Jaipur, whose outcome we all saw on the Tourer threads in form of excellent pics, accompanied by equally superb words. Discussion seemed never to come to an end with a bunch of bike enthus gathering up. Topics ranging from his endeavors to the local hot-spots in our state to work related discussions. Archi, in the meantime took some pics of the attendees. We were bombarding him with questions on all that came to our heads, be it about his riding gloves, his cam or his tripod. Many of us even asked him to ship some stuff from Delhi, since we were a couple of light years away from seeing riding gear in Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, Deepak, who was roaming around talking on his mobile phone, had taken notice of the yellow bike, and came around to us, dragging us to the gorgeous babe. The bike, when seen closely, refreshed my hazy memory and I was able to recall the STORM from the last G2G pics. Our eyes widened with wonder as archi described how the various parts were sourced and how well all had been put together for the picture-perfect bike. The underseat exhaust, the single seat, the laid-back footpegs, the huge light assembly from the Honda Dio, front indicators from the Marshall...And this is just the beginning!! No one could tell that the beast was running on a RX100 engine. But pop the clutch in first gear, and the believers will know the ONE.

After the bike had gotten the attention, we started inquiring about the place where the jobs were done. And we couldn't have been more pleased when archi mentioned that the complete job was carried out as a in-house project by his cousin Sujit aka panache. He also mentioned that he was about to come with him, but got caught up in some work. People around started firing questions about the jobs done and price incurred in them. It seemed like archi wasn't getting off easily here, so he promised us another meet, where he would bring along his brother. After that, it was time for archi's favorite task: photo-shoot! Deepak's R15 was deliciously inviting, but we weren't going to let out bikes go un-shot. After every shot taken, we would huddle up around the cam to see the result and let out ooh's and aah's at the shots. Specially loved the long exposure shots by the truly capable EOS.

We kept the CCD open till the dead on night, before riding off on our bikes. But not before I had rode the STORM, and archi had ripped the R15. The Yamaha's were getting all the attention that evening. Promising the next meet soon and bringing along Sujit, archi parted ways with us.

                Rest on day 2...
