I am tentatively in. But we should keep more destination options. A dried up waterfall is not fun.

A few decent options - BR Hills/yercaud/hogenakkal

and (if we leave at 2.30/3.00 AM) - Madikeri

Agree with u, but this time of the year, its dry almost everywhere

... Don't have much options to think about... Ranganathittu is one such place which is good during this season as birds from various parts of the world migrate to this place... But don't think its a good place for the G2G

Time management is very important to make it for other places, might have to leave very early in the morning in order to make it... In that case we can even include Himavad Gopalswamy Betta to the list...

Yes, u r right. But which place isnt dry at this moment. The only criteria in choosing this place were:

1. Somewhere that's off the beaten track
2. Somewhere near a waterbody just to beat the heat
3. Ride distance within 300 kms (one day ride)
4. Must spend at least 4-5 hours off the saddle.

Of coruse, I am open for suggestions. Hogannekkal seems good, but is it do-able in a day including spending 4-5 hours at the spot? It would be great if that's possible.

Hogenakkal defi is doable and so is yercaud. We just need to leave at 4. And it's NH (golden quad) all the way. Ranganthittu is also a good option. Whatsay we drive tomorrow evening to pearl valley and decide

Hogenekkal is again to do with water which will be dry guys!!!

Yercaud is a nice option, but not much to do there. Unless we have a midnight start and reach Yercaud to catch the sunrise!

If the limit on the distance is limiting us a lot

, how about having it for the whole weekend ??? Leave on Sat early morning to some place around 300 kms from Bangalore... There are too many choices

and back by Sunday evening ???

That can be planned for next month when there is an extended weekend. u need 1 day to recuperate from all that riding.

Hoganekkal is just 125kms. Very much doable in a day, not need to leave early either. And it wont be dry for sure. Less water, yes. But there are spots around the river where you can spend more time.

Yercaud.. hmm its been a while since I've been there. It would be cooler than the other places, but don't expect water at the falls there. There would be just enough water in the lake there though. Sounds good enough.

BR Hills: Had been close to the place a month back. It was hot and brown, dont expect anything special there. Roads are not in great condition after Maddur till you get to the base of the hills anyway.

GS betta: Again would be brown all the way. And dont forget the recent forest fires, not sure how much of the forest is gone there.

Hmm.. getting a strange idea now. Is no one ready for a 2 day ride? We can leave for Yercaud early on saturday and stay overnight. Can leave the next day in the morning and join the 1 day ride gang at Hoganekkal. Not seen anyone riding a lot these days. Anyone interested?

PS: Will hopefully post up a thread for a March 27-29 ride. A bit longer ride..hmm reminds me of the old huge group ride (was that 15 bikes?) done on similar dates 4 years back.
