Trip Log submitted by Pranay :

"Anshu, aka nSu, and I met up in front of our college, with he gloating over his brand new, 200 kms, yellow ZMA. After that, both of us went to the meeting place, a motorcycle workshop in Baneshwor. Nima, aka nirvana_grg, hadn't arrived yet and so we had to wait for him and his friends to arrive. The mechanics told us that there were three ZMA's, including Nima's, yet to come. Yapping about bikes and babes for around half hour, we talked abt all the modifications possible on bikes. You know, the kind of chat the bikers do while some dunno what the hell they are talking abt. Then the guys came in the workshop five minutes apart. The yellow ZMA was a stunner and left anshu and me speechless. The finish, the quality of the fairing, the two-piece handle bar, we kept thinking wow what a bike. Anshu repeatedly kept saying he will definitely put that kind of fairing. It was awesome. Rear tyre was fat too- SHINKO 120/90-18. Lets just say if it zoomed by someone unfamiliar with biking (like chiX) they would surely think it was a sports bike. Anyway, after all the excitement about the ZMA died out, there came Nimas. Yes, the riders of the red ZMA and black ZMA, are Nima. The black ZMA has a very sporty riding postition while the red ZMA had borrowed its handle-bar from a Moto Aupa bike. The white stickering done on the tail-lamps of red ZMA was surely and eye catcher. Alson the black ZMA's front headlight stickering was cool too. We waited for the black ZMA to get its fairing done and after attaching it to the bike we were off to DOlalghat. I wondered what the people of Kathmandu thought when we went about in horizontal LINE- formation, perpendicular to the direction we were travelling in. Wow this feels awesome, i thought. Now i know what riding in a group feels like. After some time, we had to break the formation and ride "normally". Went to a place called Banepa to eat, which is the hub linking dhulikhel to Kathmandu. After that, a small photosession in Dhulikhel happened. Then without hesistation, we were off to Dolalghat, still around an hour away from there. The road was really cool, with a mixture of straights and twists and army-checks along the way. At one point, the hill had given way, and the road was really rough (read as REALLY ROUGH!!). We had some trouble cuz we had to lean our bikes to the right to avoid the oncoming traffic and to the right was a 500-600 feet drop. And yes we had some scary moments (nima knows all abt it!). Once in Dolalghat, we started doing some stunts along the empty bridge. Then, some more off-road biking up a hill and parked along a fantastic hillside overseeing village on the far side, bridge (also known as "Juhulunge Pool") connecting two hills divided by a river. Also majestic-looking was the huge juncture where two of Nepal's most exciting white-water rivers met. We hung out for a while, fooled around then headed back for some more stuntwork! Sitting down to eat some fish, some strangely named drinks we clicked some more pictures. Suddenly, out of nowhere, cloudcover and wham! It started raining cats and dogs, no it started raining elephunts and peanuts! Sure that the monsoon rain wouldn't stop we immediately left for Dhulikhel. Along the way, there was some serious twisties action done by us. We took calculated risks, made good ground and reached Dhulikhel in no time. Rested for some time. We then decided to take a short trip to a hill just off Dhulikhel because by that time there the rain had stopped completely. Thats when things started going wrong. None of us had realised that the road was EXTREMELY slippery because of the quick shower burst. The tarmac was so slippery you could skate along it with basketball sneakers. I realised it when i was leaning the bike along the curves. It felt different than the twisties we had just come through. It felt damn "slippery". One rider asked me to look at his front tyre for wobbling, because he thought the tyre was coming apart! It felt that slippery! All along this time i hadn't realised that the yellow ZMA (full fairing) had gone by me. Just a few minutes on the alternate route, I saw it lying on the water drain on the left side of the road. Right side of the fairing was scratched, right sidelight broken and the silencer pipe scratched (only the heat shield part!). But the amazing thing about all this was you know how along the hill roads there are water drains along the side of the hill and after some interval that drain falls deep down into a deep hole of some sort. Well, the bike's front tyre was literally two inches of the hole!!! Can you imagine that? Literally, two inches! Confirmation can be given by Nima, he saw and immediately realised it too! If the rider had fallen along with the bike in the hole, who knows what would have happened? We waited for other riders to come but they took quite a time to reach the accident spot. When they did finally arrive, we found out about Anshu's small fall. No damage, just a bent leg-guard and lightly scratched silencer. Guys, the leg-guard saved Anshu tons of money and i suggest all ZMA riders to put one. First aid was quickly put on him and he was rushed to the Dhulikhel hospital. Luckily, X-rays showed no damage (fractures) and we all went home (slowly!) after that."
