Riding Etiquette

As John mentioned, since this is a big group, it is very important to follow group riding rules very strictly, else the chaos will make it an unpleasant experience for the newbies.

Just knowing how to ride a bike is not the end of it all, its only a beginning. Learning to discipline urself makes the ride a lot more pleasant and memorable. Besides, group rides are the appetizers for long solo rides. You need to have the discipline, self-control and common sense to ride and enjoy the sights and sounds on the road and of your bike.

I would also suggest a second look at the hand signals that John mentioned in one of the earlier posts. This is crucial, especially due to the extreme interruptive nature of Indian roads. Knowing how to indicate a hazzard like a pothole, dugout, speedbreaker, or a cow can be life-saving, especially more at high speeds and with other riders trailing just behind you. They are dependent on you, so indicate well, and keep them visible in your RVM's. You in turn are dependent on the riders ahead of you as well. So think ahead.

Fellow Bikers,

Who all are joining for tomorrow ride please make sure you have enough petrol to start the ride. Before you come to the meeting point if u fill ur tank would b great. Also check ur tire pressure before you start.

Remember, We are punctual. If anybody is not able to catch up on time at the meeting point he / she has to catch up the group on the way. Request to everyone to bring urself on time.

well here are a few suggestions from my side.

1) Better to have your tanks filled and ready before hand , that is before we start itself.
2) If possible to have pit stop points planned ahead.

3)As the group is big i think we should swap a few mobile number before
we head on.

WHOA...that's a HUGE list of people!!!

We need to have a few ground rules laid which everyone follows, I'm sure a few of the experienced riders will contribute in that respect. I just have a few pointers that I feel everyone should follow, especially because we have quite a few new members this time around.

- The Lead/Sweep group of riders will be pre-decided.
- Nobody overtakes the Lead group, and Nobody falls behind the sweep group.
- The Lead/Sweep will be the fastest riders of the group.
- Keep enough braking distance between vehicles to avert panic situations.

Lastly and more importantly,
- Lookout for each other, respect the other riders.
- Use your head.
- This is not a race.

Lead Group: You guys can ride at your comfortable speed, just ensure that you can see the guys trailing behind in your rear view mirrors. In short, slow down once in a while to let the others catchup.
Sweep Group: You guys have to ensure that nobody is left behind, and you also have to ensure that people maintain optimum speed. Incase of any mishap, its your responsibility to catchup with the lead group and stop everyone.

EDIT: I will be a part of the sweeping group. I will once in a while overtake everyone to take ride-by pic if possible!
