my name is rohit acharya and i have recently purchased a white apache rtr 180 and i would like to go on group tours
i m a newbie and have never riden more than 60-70 kms on bike in a day
i would also like to find out whether i m a tourer or not so plz invite me if any of you guys are planning any tours

@all: Any one who is comfortable riding at 50kmph coming for this ride.. I have fried my engine.. got new block pistons `n replaced lot more.. damage of around 11-12k
have to run-in.

even recently I changed my bikes block piston rings..! so riding at 60kmph for few hundred kms now

even recently I changed my bikes block piston rings..! so riding at 60kmph for few hundred kms now

hmm.. too many scratches in the cylinder man.. darn that K&N they say I will have to bore my engine.. I told them to give me the old cylinder and piston and told them to replace it with new ones.. they told me to run-in the engine for atleast 1500 kms at 50kmph!

below is the lost of things i am changing..,

cylinder block,
piston,
valves/ports.. too much carbon on them along with de-carbing the whole bike till the exhaust ,
front disc plate,
front disc pads,
rear brake outline with the rubber,
clutch plates,
`n a lot more small stuff

btw met the tvs engineer.. he told a 200 cc from tvs is developing in their stable.. woooha

oh shit man..! thats a heck lot of work..! am sure, you must not be enjoying riding the bike as before cause of its current state. Even i can feel the difference in my bike right now.. riding on 60kmph, i have to continuously keep checking my speedo for not exceeding the speed
now even the battery is getting low.. may have to replace it..!!

@rachit: yeah man.. that's a lot of changes.. have given the bike to bhandup innovative tvs man.. take care of your bike man..

what if i fill the bike a full tank, park it in my apartment, put it on main stand and switch it on with the accelerator locked at 5k rpm? will that count as a proper run-in?

I can't ride the bike below 5k rpm man.. its frustrating..

@ Razor: Heart break news buddy...thats a total breakdown of the bike condition...

But how did the K&N affect the bike..?

@inder: indeed a total damage, yes! too much fine dust particles went inside engine through K&N man.. there were way too many fine scratches inside the cylinder wall, which finally result in engine drinking too much of oil.. filled a liter a week ago and it was just 50ml left in the sump a week later

Ohh..so bcoz of the dust particles those scratches were there..

But, it doesnt happen in other bikes though..or may be they wud see the after effects after some thousand kms down the line..!
