ONE DAY EXCURSIONS AROUND PUNE

NAME/DISTANCE/FAMOUS FOR



PUNE MUMBAI ROAD UPTO KHANDALA -

1)Bedsa Caves - 50-30kms - carvings in the caves 2000 years old,for photography visit in the morning for proper direction of light.

2)Dukes nose - 70-50kms - Nature, pots in stone on the hilltop

3)Tiger's Leap - 70-50kms - Nature, deep valley


PUNE KHOPOLI ALIBAUG ROAD -

1)Kihim - (distance not sure) - wide beach sea famous for soft sand, Dr.Salim Ali's place


PUNE PANVEL ROAD -

1)Karnala bird sanctuary - 100/80kms - fort, bird sanctuary, binocular essential, bewars of honey bees on the cliff..



PUNE NASHIK ROAD -

1)BheemaShankar - 125-110kms - Bombay point, hanuman lake, nagphani(like dukes nose), bheema river, waterfall, sanctuary, shekru squirrel, fluoroscent moss, rainfall 3000mm annually...

2)Nane ghat - (distance not sure) - one can see 100 sq km of area right from kalasubai to bheemashankar from one of the cliff, visit after diwali when roads are dry..

3)malshej ghat - 125-110kms - beautiful nature, lot many waterfalls, misty atmosphere, visit during monsoon, have binocular, VISIT DONGARWADI 2KMS FROM GHAT TO SEE FLAMINGOS IN AUGUST

4)Kotul - (-) - inverted conical columns of natural salt..

5)Takahari - (-) - shri bhawani temple

6)Akole - (-) - shri siddheshwar temple built in 8th century found in 1780, also see gangadhareshwar temple..

7)Pemgiri - (-) - banyan tree spread about 4 acres/1.5 hector(age few centuries)



PUNE NAGAR ROAD -

1)Morachi chincholi - 82-112kms - Lot of Peacocks during morning and evening.
They come closer to persons wearing dirty white clothes like local people..

2)Nighoj - 87-117kms - Potholes in the river, Biggest in Asia.(Moonland in Pune?), Due to the swirling motion of water stone s start rotating ,thus wearing out the bottom of the river. Some times neighboring potholes may open in each other creating patterns worth seeing.


3)Vadgaon - (-) - inverted conical salt columns, beware of monkeys

4)Takali Dhokeshwar - (-) - Cave temple built in 5th / 6th century, Lot of sculptures in temple

That's very... but most of the times we look for a place or destination to take that U turn and start the return journey. And that's where this list helps..

And as per my knowledge and your requirements i.e with good twisties,less traffic and some open stretches there's only one road.. Mumbai-Goa road. If one leaves early morning then he'll hardly find any traffic on even the otherwise busy road till wadkhal. And from wadkhal onwards..I dont call it a road..it's as good as a race track.. superb tarmac..very little traffic and lots of twisties. Occasional straight patches ranging upto a few kilometers.

I'll check if there's a place on this road which where we can make a joureny in about 300-350kms return. I dont need to tell ya guys bout kashedi ghat... Mannn.. it's paradise for biking.. i m anytime ready to ride on it..

^^ kya thanx wanx yaar..Btw, my native is around Goregaon which is off to the Goa Highway so am aware of that road.. just love it, but the thing is even Spidy is coming from Pune.. so the only options left for us is the Mumbai Pune Highway..

Have u eva been to Dadar? I mean do u know how to reach Dadar? If u can.. they u n me can go together for the launch.. So no need of guidance and confusion..

If u know how to reach dadar then what u can do is..as u'll b coming from Panvel m sure u'll follow the higway from sion. Keep coming ahead and once u reach Dadar TT flyover, U can gimme a call on my number i.e 9970078695. I'll come over there and then we can ride together to Worli seaface. What say?

If u know how to reach Shivaji park or sena bhavan then that'll be even easier for both of us.

The launch is scheduled at 12 noon.. So i think it'll b better for us to reach there a lill before 12 noon so that we can spend some time interacting with GIR people. I was planning to be there by 11.30am and therefore I was gonna leave home by 11.15-11.20am. You plan ur ride accordingly so that u can reach dadar by 11.20am.

I wonder why dont you guys meet up at sion circle???!!! (Near adlabs)....goin to reclamation is like the biggest detour ever!! +
the launch time is 11?? then it will take atleast half an hour to reach worli seaface from reclaimation.....sion circle will be convinient for ppl coming from vashi/panvel/thane as well.
from sion circle, we can go straight, dadar tt circle-tilak bridge-dadar stn-siddhivinayak-prabhadevi-worli sea face!
