Is the air filter soaked up in oil or it looks and feels dry?
Since all FZ comes with paper type air filter getting oil in there is wierd.

AFAIK,FZ have a paper type air filter.The oil in the air filter box might be because of the oil vapours from PCV valve pipe connected to the airbox,not sure though.Check if there is any oil deposit on air filter.

I am not too sure if this is the correct troubleshooting. Do you tend to keep the fuel regulator on ON or RESERVE instead of OFF?? if so then the carb tends to overflow and as a result one may get oil, smuck deposits in the air filter.

Others may be able to help you out better.

Cheers

Yes it is the oil from the engine breather connected to the clean air side of air box.I do not know if there is a PCV valve in line with the breather in FZ, but the oil vapour from the crank case is vented into the Air Box in most 4 stroke engines and it is this oil vapor deposit which forms into small oil collection.

+1 . If the air filter is dry paper type, the source of the oil in the airbox is indeed the crankcase breather tube. It is aggravated(more oil collects there) when you overfill engine oil over the max mark on the dipstick . If the oil is not wetting the paper filter element in anyway, there is nothing to worry about . Wipe it off while servicing the filter every time .

Its from the crank case breather hose.Nothing to worry about unless there is excess amount of Oil in a short time.

@PSR

is it ok to leave the hose in the open?i.e if i have a FF Filter connected to the carb and i remove the Air Box.
