Hi Mayank,

I bought my 220 from ngp too but did not get it serviced there as i moved to mumbai. I faced all the problems that you have mentioned.

1. If the self start keeps running even after taking the keys out, the relay is faulty. The relay will be changed in warranty. Bajaj had introduced a new realy for 220 and all the bikes will be upgraded in warranty. I got my bike's relay changed and never faced this problem again.

2. Low engine oil indicator runs all the time on my bike. This has not been cured yet. Just keep an eye on oil level from the glass piece at the bottom of the engine crank case. Change oil in every 2000 kms and strictly use prescribed oil. Forget the indicator.

3.The fuel level indicator is not perfect. It does happen sometimes that petrol tank is empty and the meter still shows 2 bars. If there is petrol in the tank there should not be any jerks. Just get the pipes, that carry petrol to the fuel pump, cleaned.

4.Pulsar 220 never over heats. I have run the bike at three digit figures for 4 hrs at a stretch and it never gave me any reason to complaint. If the engine has been running for more than 15-20 mins u cannot touch the engine of any bike. Thats not the way to check if the engine is overheating. Thankfully 220 has a engine overheat warning. If its not blinking, u can rev it hard.

5.Rear disc break does make sound at times.Cant help it.

Drive safe,
Saransh.

Fi does have a BCU, it seems that your service engineer is really a fool. BTW if your problems are solved, what was the culprit?

If your engine dies after ripping the bike, have your tried ripping with the tank lid open?

Even incorrect tappet settings (too tight tappet) can cause this too. I had to buy feeler gauge and set the tappets myself to remove this problem! All mechs here set tappet by "feel"!

Tappet setting means adjusting valve clearances. The lash between the valves and the cam shaft is adjusted by adjusting the tappet. If it is not proper, problems can occur. Loose tappets will mean dull top end performance (above 5k). Too tight tappet will mean engine stalling at lower rpm and lack of power across the rev band. So, it should be set properly.

Yes, ride the bike, with tank lid unlocked, not fully open, and if the bike still dies.
