But what? From what I can see, you guys have only mentioned the K&N Air Filter that might actually improve performance a bit. Please feel free to suggest stuff. I’m getting my bike delivered on Friday.
@undefineme3, Thanks, man, for shattering my dreams. I don’t have that kind of money. Everything sounds friggin’ expensive. I was hoping to get everything done under Rs. 15,000 now (without the fairing and all to add to the expenses). I might have to sacrifice the rear disk brake, which I really do not want to. I can easily sacrifice the sporty mirrors though. Thanks though. I was just kidding about the “shattering my dreams” part. That was a very helpful reply. |

Would suggest you to use that 20k as Down payment and get a new bike. I won't suggest you to go for so much of mods in the old horse. You can't change the character of the bike, which is of first gen.

I too have a P150 Classic. The engine has a character of its own. Love the engine for what it is. If you bring it up to specs, I guarantee you, it will bring a smile to your face every time you ride it. Functional mods like rear disc brake is ok. Please don't try to change the nature of the engine. K&N, custom exhausts are a big no no.
Anyways, my 2 paisa.

As it is a old bike, I guess the engine will need an overhaul. Get it done properly. Rear disc from P220 is a good thing to do. This will mean newer 17 inch alloys too. Clipons as per your preference. I found P180UGIII handlebar sporty enough for me. Tyres, keep the front one stock, and for the rear one, don't go above 100/90 size.
Do these first. Other mods can come afterwise. And, no k&n, custom exhausts, silly cosmetic mods etc please.

Clipons will lower your handle height. This gives a sporty riding position. But, more pressure is felt on the wrist. If you like the position, go for it.

Thanks. I might get them. Are they cheap? Also, do alloy wheels have any significant advantage over spoked ones? How much do they cost?
I bought an ABS today for my front disk brake and also Motul engine oil. I now intend to put a KRP exhaust charger that apparently gives it better pickup and 5 KMph more on the top end. I’ll also be putting in a K&N Air Filter. I know the bike has a good engine but I don’t think an air filter and an exhaust will do any damage to the engine. Are these sensible mods? I have very little information about bikes and am therefore trying to take each step very carefully. I also want to buy a helmet. I wear glasses so I was looking at those flip-up style things. I can get one from Studds for about a thousand bucks. Sounds good, right? Please let me know. Thanks. |
