@arya - i liked reading that the rear tyre skids a lot. does it do it by itself, or its you doing it man!!! ride safe mate.

Mods are good, depending on whats the condition of the original bike. How is the clutch, the suspension, electricals etc.

Remember most visual mods will add weight to the bike, robbing you of performance. So decide what would you like to get done, and proceed accordingly. Though i would not recommend any direct engine mods ( other than modding intake and exhaust ), to preserve the life of the engine.

Also do not expect earth shattering performance. Its not like you can out drag a zma or a P220. keep that in mind. Cheerios and best of luck.

IMO....leave the bike as such...let it be stock.....

changing the airfilter, shock etc are advisable.....you also go for NGK iridium spark plugs along with that

Sell the bike, add the cash meant for modding and add some more to it (beg/borrow/steal) and get a spanking new bike. No amount of mods is going to make it sexier than hell and faster than a p220/r15/zma. Just my 2 cents.

K&N Air Filter
Clip-on handlebars
Rear disk brake
HID with projectors headlamp (Xenon)
Thicker, tubeless tires (Barracuda)
Tyre rim (Mag wheels; Pulsar 180cc)
Sporty mirrors
New colour

Can someone please give me an estimate of how much these things will cost me (my budget has also been lowered now to “the lowest possible amount you have to spend to get just the most essential things modified”)? What sort of colour should I go for (like, what quality and all that)? Will I see any performance improvement from these upgrades? What size tires would be most ideal?

And, most importantly, can someone recommend me a really good place in Delhi/NCR where I can get these things done for cheap?

If that was an option for me, it would’ve been the first thing I would do. I’m just not allowed to have a new bike. It’s not about the money; I just do not have permission to do it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

k&N R1060: around 1600 which requires jetting the carb

clipons: they start from 300 for really cheap ones which come without the vibration mounts to around 6000 which comes on the P220, for which you need to change the front forks(price included)

rear disk brake: you have 2 options, 1: P220 rear disk kit(comes around 10k) which includes rear alloy+disk+swingarm and without the foot pegs for which you would need to shell out another 2 or 2.5k 2: welding work on the swingarm+new rear alloy with disk mount

HID: around 1800 for chinese ones and around 3.5k for really good ones with 1yr garuntee no idea on projectors. AFAIK, the P220 bikini faring comes for around 8k in which u get projectors and you can install HIDs but your bike needs to be runing on DC and not AC.

Sporty mirrors: dude, IMHO dont do tat, i've seen some bikes sporting somethin like what you get in the mercedes, trust me it really looks sad...


color: based on your choice anywhere between 4-5k.. btw, black is the cheapest.

tyres: get MRF zappers... best value for money.. get a 120/90... no idea on 18" though.. check out the tyres thread.

dude, invest on performance and not on looks.. believe me it would be real fun when you outrun a P200 or somethin with a classic P150...

you dont really need a rear disc in the bike. you can save that money and spend it on something else.

But what? From what I can see, you guys have only mentioned the K&N Air Filter that might actually improve performance a bit. Please feel free to suggest stuff. I’m getting my bike delivered on Friday.

Thanks, man, for shattering my dreams. I don’t have that kind of money. Everything sounds friggin’ expensive. I was hoping to get everything done under Rs. 15,000 now (without the fairing and all to add to the expenses). I might have to sacrifice the rear disk brake, which I really do not want to. I can easily sacrifice the sporty mirrors though.

Would suggest you to use that 20k as Down payment and get a new bike. I won't suggest you to go for so much of mods in the old horse. You can't change the character of the bike, which is of first gen.

I too have a P150 Classic. The engine has a character of its own. Love the engine for what it is. If you bring it up to specs, I guarantee you, it will bring a smile to your face every time you ride it. Functional mods like rear disc brake is ok. Please don't try to change the nature of the engine. K&N, custom exhausts are a big no no.
