  • Bajaj Phased Out XCD

In the wake of falling sales, Bajaj have decided to stop production of the XCD 125 commuter bike
It is farewell time for the Bajaj XCD 125, the executive commuter bike that was launched way back in September 2007. This is the second bike that the Pune-based manufacturer has phased out in the last three months, the first being the Pulsar 200 DTS-i. The reason behind this move was to make way for the slightly bigger and more powerful XCD 135 which was launched way back in February this year. Bajaj decided to pull the plug on the smaller model when its sales dipped below 20000 units a month as compared to the 50000 units expected of it by the company. In contrast, the XCD 135 sold 10,000 units in the first two weeks after its launch.

Nothing unusual with Bajaj. Folks, happily start searching spares for your XCD125s. They have joined the endless list of KB, 4S Champion, Boxer, Caliber, Wind, Byk, CT100, P200.............

one year ago the same bike set a small record by selling 60,000 units in one month. Now not even 20,000 a month and is phased out...

Why am I not surprised at this move???
We've probably seen a lot of such things from Bajaj.

What re-sale value would the XCD's have now?

Does nt really take a genius to figure this out! I mean what were they thinking Discover 135, XCD 125,135 Discover 100 Platina. Bikes arent tetra pack drinks to offer options like this. It s like Tropicana 200 ml 500 ml and 1 litre pack! Gawd!

Hmm.. nothing new here .... this reminds me of my caliber115... bought in mar2004 , and it was phased out in next 6 mths .... had to hunt for spares(I still remember hunting for the accelerator cable ... I couldnt get it in year 2006 , all dealers had the cable for 4S champion and boxer , and said that boxer's n 4s champion's accel. cable is shorter in length so wont fit in ) ... then sold it off this year n got an apache ..

Other low volume bikes are XCD135, Disc135, Platina 100, Platina125, expect these to be sacked soon too....

But making many people unhappy by sacking is avoidable

                          I disagree with you..

The XCD135 is selling well, thats why the XCD125 has been phased out!
The Discover 135 is one of the major volume drivers for Bajaj.. It'll become low volume, prolly once a Discover 150 is launched..

EDIT: Not so long ago, Bajaj had exited the 100cc segment with the CT100 & Platina100 being phased out.. But then recently Bajaj re-enterered the 100cc segment, with the Discover 100, which is selling HUGE numbers.. Back-tracking eh?
Also, Bajaj has also vowed to phase out its 125cc bikes.. Now that the XCD125 is gone, looks like the Platina's days are numbered as well..

I think the Platina 100 is still on sale.

By the way did anyone notice that the "Suzuki Heat" has disappeared from Suzuki Motorcycle India's website..??

Had a look at the Bajaj website now.. The Platina100 still features there!
My Bajaj dealer had told me long ago (before May this year) that the Platina100 is out, & i remember reading it somewhere as well..
                              I'm confused now!

EDIT: Deleted from my prev post, that Platina 100 is phased out..
Could it be possible its phased out only down South? Myabe, maybe not..
