  • [Help]: Suggest Route HYD-Chikmangalur[Kemmangundi]]

Guys, i am planning to do a three day trip from HYD to kemmangundi some time in SEP. Suggest me the best route to reach kemmangundi.

    My plan is: [NH7]Hyd-kurnool-anantapur-penukonda[NH7]-[SH]madakasira-sira-huliyar-banavara-sakkarepatna-chikmaglur[SH]

will stay night at anatapur and start for chikmangalur @ 6 AM shld be able to reach chikmangalur by 12 noon i guess. I am confused , whether to go kemmangundi first or to chikmangalur. Also i am new to above mentioned places so a list of budget hotels or other accomadation is a welcome.

    My final list of questions:

    1) Should i go to chikmangalur or kemmangundi first from anantapur , will i be able to see the places in kemmangundi in half day.Can i stay night @ kemmangundi
    2) how are the road conditions after anantapur , especially in karnataka to reach kemmangundi.
    3) budget hotels list
    4) places to see near chikmangalur. my list is kemmangundi,z-point,hebbe falls, mulliyanagiri[suggest some more places ]. In what order should i visit these places.
5)Nearest beach from chikmangalur , my plan is to visit mangalore . Are there good beaches near mangalore ? how are the road conditoins?

Check this thread for Accommodation at Kemmangundi. This thread will give an Idea. Kemmangundi and Chikmagulur are very nearby.

But, I am not sure how the routes from Ananthapur would be. Somebody from Karnataka should help on this.

The roads are not Bad but ok from Sira. You may have to look out for any road upgradation/Widening project around Sira. There is only one option for stay in Kemmangundi (Horticulture department Guest Houses), Which you can get at throw away prices (ariffs starting from Rs100,Max somewhere around 750 for two bedroom cottage with ac). However u have a choice of resorts in Chikmagalur.Dont miss out on hebbe falls if u are a serious off roader. The roads are at their worst (due to non stop rains) but its worth the off roading. The roads from Chikmagalur to Mangalore are not in the best of their shape. The best possible route would be Chikmagalur-Belur -Sakleshpura-Gundya check post-B.C.Road-Mangalore.The roads via charmadi ghat are not that good and they are boring too.Let me know or PM if any detail is missing will get back soon.I would suggest u not miss out on Baba Budayanagiri, Kudremukh, Mullayanagiri.

Kudremukh stretch would be awesome in this monsoons. Do not miss it. If you like serious off-roading, do not miss kodachadri. The hills are serene and calm on the top. I simply love that place.

Route Chikmagalur-Mudigere-Kottegehaara(Take right deviation and take kalasa route)-Kudremukha. For Udupi- kolluru ride by the arabian sea and take the right deviation near Baindur(u May have to ask the locals as there are no sign boards. Regarding the routes i have not been on this stretch since it rained. The routes in the western ghats are prone to deteriorate during rains but it will be scenic and lush green.Dont forget to carry your puncture kit and a rain jacket.Once it starts raining on this route it will not stop for hours.

puncture kits are not of that help to tubeless tyres.Carry a spare tube if possible.Reason being the repair shops around the route may not have proper sealents.Make sure ur bike is in the best possible conditions even though u have bajaj authorized service centers all along the route.
