Yamaha Fazer vs Honda Dazzler ?
Guys I really want to get a Fazer and the people at Yamaha showroom Malad Mumbai were very helpful and gave me a test ride even though I told them I have very little exp riding bikes..the guy there was telling me the new 2012 version of the Fazer/Fz has a slightly tweaked engine that gives more mileage he was telling me that everyone who bought it says their getting 45kmpl and admitted that the old one gave only around 35kmpl...I tried asking around but none of my friends who have bikes know about the so called new fazer/fz even my uncle who has a 2011 fz says you will get from 35-40 max....and over here on the forums also people complain about low mileage..any comments tips will be appreciated..as no matter how good the bike looks I don't think I would want to buy it if I'm getting similar or even better performance with more mileage from a Cheaper Honda unicorn dazzler as most people who own dazzler say it gives 45-50.
Any other suggestions are aslo welcome....thanksTags: None

First Dazzler and Frazer are priced almost same!!
Don't know about the so called FZ/Frazer owners but i had an experience of 2 months on FZ daily 40kms ride and i use to get 40+kmpl. Never got more than 45kmpl ever even ridden in 40-60kmph. I ride on highway wihtout traffic. Now Yes it's true that new FZ/Frazer are more better on mileage part, surely gets 45kmpl or more. FZ/Frazer has good riding comfort with fun to ride in city or highway. Surely it lacks power beyond 100kmph, it starts slagging. top speed i have reached ever was 118kmph but my friends have reached 120 mark too.
Dazzler is best in your scenario, becuase Dazzler has dual disc brakes which will help you more better speed control with confidence and an average of 50kmpl+.
Anytime Dazzler!!!

I didnt understand your query as you just discussed mileage.
What else are you looking in the bike? how fast you want to ride it? where you want to ride it? What features you require?
or is it just - I have test ridden all, want Fazer vs Dazzler based on mileage? If the latter is the case - Dazzler.
If mileage is your only concern and any 150 cc than why not GS150R - Six gears and 55 something mileage.
In my opinion a difference of 2-3 km/l should never be the deciding factor for bike selection. New Fazer will give 45 and Dazzler will give 48!Last edited by muztariq; 10-06-2012, 09:47 AM.

Re: Yamaha Fazer vs Honda Dazzler ?
Agree with that. Of you wanna look at the dazzler, the gs150r is worth a try. That 6 th gear will make you happy. Is very comfortable too.Originally posted by muztariq View PostI didnt understand your query as you just discussed mileage.

What is your prime requirement? Mileage/speed/power/low end or mid range or linear power etc...what?
If mileage is the only thing that you are looking for buy a Bajaj Discover 150cc!!
Jokes apart, Fazer for Cornering fun, she is completely in a different segment... low end and mid range power. Top end post 85-90 kmph she starts losing breath.
Honda Dazzler, personally not a big fan of the looks but then has a good base engine, good power and Honda tag to it.
I would suggest that you should also take a feedback about the after sales service of both the brands in your locality as a lot of experienced riders have learned that at a later part of ownership one only wants the health check up and maintenance to be sorted out by the SVC and not get hassled by it due to inefficiency of the same.

I Just wanted a my first bike to be Safe,Easy to maintain,Easy to ride,Comfortable...and to have great performance till 100Kmh( not constant 100Kmh riding) along with a mileage of around 45-50 and I need a bike that can take me out of Mumbai on weekends once I become more confident on the bike..My father also may use to bike for day to day chores and stuff..when im sleeping
So..In mind there are couple of things right now
Why are there so few dazzlers on the street when the price of dazzler and pulsar 150 is almost the same??? Is it because the looks are not that Aggressive and big as an fz or is it because of some other reason?
After Reading the forum and random web searches...I have come to a conclusion that.
Dazzler owners are a happy lot...they complain about out lack of spares and battery issues but eventually get them resolved and always mention I get 45-55+ mileage.
Fazer owners say Mileage is in the 35-40 Mark...and some proudly state that I got 40kmpl im very happy..while on the other hand I read a Dazzler owner wanted to lodge a complaint for getting 40kmpl mileage
Yeah...so this is what is in my mind...I know difference of 5kmpl is not a big deal but 50-55 vs 35-40 is..especially when you have similar performance...
* My uncle has an FZ which is about a year old I can always use that if I want a bit of Yamaha. he also says 35-38 Mileage.
* My Parents have a Honda Aviator so I know how reliable Honda stuff is.
If I have the wrong thinking here please correct me as like I said only based my views on what I have heard from others. on forums. thanks.

Dazzler is an allrounder. Its easy on maintenance due to minimal plastics and fairing. Quality is excellent and there will not be any rattling for years (I will guarantee that). Its good for occasional 100 kmph. Comfortable and easy riding in city. Good handling with low saddle, monoshock, and rear disc. Good on features with Tubeless tyres and digital speedo with clock. The engine is the reliable proven Honda's 150cc. Mileage 50+ depending on riding style and where you ride. Also, better access to service centers.
And, its easy for your dad to ride it; its a family bike too.
P.S.: I owned Dazzler for two years, and it was the least maintenance bike for us so far. Toured extensively on it. I say, its a great alrounder and I miss it.Last edited by ravi@17bhp; 10-07-2012, 01:44 PM.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Re: Yamaha Fazer vs Honda Dazzler ?
From this, I say go for the dazzler. The unicorn dazzler comes with a hefty wait, so I imagine people would go for other bikes. Only those who truly love the vehicle will put up with that wait. The vehicle is splendid. Comfortable in all ways. Good seat, silent and comes with an engine that is so smooth, you'll doubt its even there. Mileage is also good. And performance upto 90-100kph should not be a problem. Also, the rear disc adds to highway safety that the fz/fazer lacks. Lastly, Honda quality. The bike is one of Honda's best brainchilds. Combining intelligent engineering with commuter expectations, this bike is an all rounder like none other.Originally posted by Alistair View PostI Just wanted a my first bike to be Safe,Easy to maintain,Easy to ride,Comfortable...and to have great performance till 100Kmh( not constant 100Kmh riding) along with a mileage of around 45-50 and I need a bike that can take me out of Mumbai on weekends once I become more confident on the bike..My father also may use to bike for day to day chores and stuff..when im sleeping
But, the dazzler lacks the grunt of a 150cc fazer or fz mill. While the fazer is equally smooth, after a certain speed, you know the engine is there and propelling you forward. The extra hp of power it has over the unicorn(roughly) is noticeable on the highway. That's where the part of you getting confidence to go out of Mumbai comes into the picture. The fazer comes with a semi- fairing that provides for better stability from the bike. Huge rear tires provide the same. So where the unicorn has a rear disc, the fazer conveys with these.
No matter which bike you choose, your dad shouldn't have a problem if it's only chores. If he plans regular use, long rides, i'd say unicorn, because of its seating position.
So your decision comes to two things : mileage or highway pleasure? Honda reliability or Yamaha fun?
I'd also like to add, the new 2012 fz/fazer is tuned to give you the extra mile. So mileage figures have improved in general. Roughly 20% better mileage. So expect 40-50kmpl based on how you ride.

Dude from everything you have written, Dazzler IS THE BIKE FOR YOU. And I say that as a proud dazzler owner!
Why? Here are my arguments for you:
First Fazer and Dazzler both cost approx. Rs75000 OTR in bangalore, so same price
Also both have same HP - 14bhps... BUT Dazzler is lighter! And less bulky. The only reason the Fazer might seem more appealing is because its max torque is at 6000rpm whereas Dazzler its at 6500rpm. As a result Fazer might seem more fun, but it is not! Why? I would have bought this argument had we been talking about FZ16 but because the front fairing of fazer is so bulky, it is not as much fun as as an FZ.
Further, the max power of Fazer comes in at 7500rpm whereas Dazzlers max power comes in at 8500rpms and this is the reason that given a long enough stretch, the FZs and Fazers are NEVER able to keep up with a Dazzler, they simply loose grunt after 7500rpms, ask any FZ owner what happens to the bike after 7500rpms. This itself should tell you which is more highway worthy, the cruising rpm of dazzler is 6500rpm (max torque), i.e. 87kmph (it does 80kmph at 6000rpm and I cruise at that speed btw also it does 94kmph at 7000rpms, ample for overtaking most cars) where as the cruising rpm of Fazer is 6000rpm (max torque rpm) and above that for long hours would be stressing the engine. At 100kmph FZs loose all grunt while Dazzler still has some juice left.
Now for the features, both bikes are almost identical in all features: 12L tanks, no kicker in both, Fazer should technically have better lights at night but since only one headlight works at a time, therefore same headlights, both have digital consoles, comfortable seats, O ring chains etc. But Dazzler has rear disc which FZ/Fazer dose not.
AND there are KNOWN issues with the rear tyre of FZ/Fazer where the rim gets bent due to potholes and the tyre looses all tyre pressure. Dazzler also has known issues with batteries, but not only does the battery get replaced free within warranty (I got mine for free
) push starting dazzler is crazy easy, infact I rode my bike WITHOUT any battery for 2 weeks and it runs just fine. Living without a battery is as easy or as difficult as living with a bike whose rear tyre needs air every morning.
Now the claim that fairing improves highway worthiness of a bike. True! BUT only if the bike is going to be doing in excess of 100kmph the whole day. Neither FZ/Fazer nor Dazzler can do that. What they can do is 80-90kmph the whole day. You don't really need a fairing for that as any hard core tourer will tell you.
And to top it up, mileage. Dazzler WILL give you 50kmpl no matter what. Most owners in the owner-ship thread claim 55. Many have ACTUALLY got more than 60kmpl and more on highways consistently. These figures cannot be even imagined for FZ/Fazer.
So my final answer to you. Are you an urban warrior? Do you weave in and out of city-traffic like crazy? Do you race every time the signal turns green only to race again at the next signal? Do you crave the exhilaration of acceleration over the adrenalin of speed? If you answer YES to any of the above go for the FZ (Fazer is really pointless actually)
I get my fix from highway speeds and high mileage so I went for the Dazzler and have never looked back!
