so first service done oil change and washing took over 3 hr. then they ran full diagnostics for electrical.. funny all they had was a multimeter(from japan!) so cehck the battery voltage and the voltage at start that was 14.3. next they checked the rectifier (funnly the confused themselve on the location of the regulator and rectifier unit they thought it was under the tank then relized it was under the fues box after they found that they cjedk the parameters like resistance conductivity voltage (without starting the bike) .
they put everything back together only to discover ....a screw !!!! then the opend it all again to locate the lost scre which was of the coupler and RR fixed i all back tokk all of 9 hr to do this.. net result nothing wrong with electrical ..hummm must be the battery is the best they come up with.. whats worse today morning i discover the fairing screw hanging on for its dear life the forgot to fit the fairing correctly and it was loose. ![]() thanks to this fault of thier i remove the plastic part inside whcih attached this nut to the main boday of the bike and guess what it has been stuck by glue. ![]() ![]() anyway the chap came today and chaned the part refitted the faring correctly ..this bike is not very easy to work with being so compact.. here are some pics of the bike being service ![]() ![]() tommorow i ride to Jaipur...hopefully will come back with the bike and not have to abandon it some where. i will be carrying with me a multimeter and a 12v 1A power supply in case the battry problem occures for all else ...i have honda to thank.... |

Hi, Congratulations on your new Ride ..!! We have had a serious issue in the middle east with excessive oil consumption in the 2008 Fireblades. It would be interesting to hear what you guys in India have to say about the same.
There was a recall and the problem was said to be fixed but it has only been an improvement ! Vivek Zenfolio | Vivek Sathish - To view a huge collection photographs from our rides !

I am aware of this oil consumption issue in the 2008 fireblades. The fireblades in India are 2009 version and so none of them have this issue. I have checked the oil level in my fireblade for almost seven thousand kilometers now, and there has never been any substantial drop in the oil level. So I guess this problem is a thing of the past and was only related to a particular batch of 2008 fireblades.. btw, amazing collection of pictures you got there ... we can just dream of such roads and conditions in India ....

hi, the guys at honda are not experienced enough, and it is sad that they are learning to handle these superbikes at the expense of the first batch of customers. I am sure things will improve with time.
Have a safe trip to Jaipur. cheers. |

@bunny: First of all, I have not congratulated you for getting the Blade
Congratulations, it is a stunning bike, and easily the class-leader. Thanks for those pics from the service. It is giving all of us a fair idea of how Honda is going about with their CBU program, and along with Fireblah's initial reports, is giving invaluable feedback to prospective and current owners. Keep up the good work. As one of Yamaha's earliest customers, I also went through similar experiences of people not knowing what is where etc, but that was only in the initial one month or so. I'm sure even Honda will get their technicians up to the mark soon. But the glue on the plastic clamp is unforgiveable. It smacks of our usual habit to cut corners and "adjust". That I can safely assure you is not present with Yamaha. For example, in the process of working on my R1, I have damaged a bolt, fasteners etc, and each time, they would adamantly change it with a new one. Yamaha's service did screw me a couple of times, but not in this way. This is pretty bad. I don't know if it's the battery per se. This is elementary, but did they check the charging current? (Both while at idle and while revving) Also, do you have warranty on your battery? Reason I ask is, the batteries on Yamaha's CBUs do not come with Yamaha warranty, but manufacturer warranty which is pretty useless since they do not have a presence here
