Congrats bunny on a beautiful bike. This one is a thing to remember. I am sure even in 2020, they will remember the 08-09 Fireblades. These bikes will be legends.
The 09 R1 has its own set of problems. The 08 is a better buy compared to the 09, which Iam sure will be selling at a premium whenever it is that they get to India.Originally posted by anirudh fz1 View Posttry disconnecting the headlights which run during the day, they sap a lot of power
u could have waited for 2 months atleast till 09 r1 launches in jan 2010,since abs cbr1000 is most expensive of all ,sigpic

@ACE_HUNTER: there is no provision to put a front number plate on these bikes , pasting it on the mud guard is one way of avoiding the cops irritating you as older bullets use to have these types of plates, both these bike are not homogolated as companies for 800cc plus bike dont need it anymore. and you are right in our country with SBK i can rember the words of Henry Ford : "we sell cars in any color the customer wants as long as it is Black" they had a few peices of each sold them thats it take it or leave it !!! currently it is a sellers market for SBK so even if you may be paying a lot of money you are not as important a customer as for their bulk products eg the 150cc range.
@nand15 : this is a really heavy bike 200 kg twith an uncomfortable handle position to push start, perhaps rolling it off a hill should help
, perhaps it should have worked sincve the FI system was comming on, but from the p220 experience it is not a recomended practice since the unburnt fuel tend to mess up the catalytics..
@Binoy : after observing the mileage meter it can give 22kmpl if driving at a steady 3.5K rpm in the 4, 5 and 6 gear thats about 96kmph speed. and i guess it is fine to tak about milage on a SBK afterall the only gizmo that honda has givin on this bike is a clock (withou alarm
or stopwatch
like the r1 of rtr) and a milage meter ...so that all i have to talk about any way... update of late it has been showing 15.5 on the current tank full. And fossile fuels are running scare so if we can stretch the liter save the enviornment why not
.go hybrid technology....
@anirudh fz1 & pudix: i did a lot of research as perhaps this was the only sbk i would own in my life, and waited for the r1 to be re-launched..for those who do not know. the '08 R1 model stoped selling in march 09 in indai the started booking of the '10 R1 on 15 sep to be delivery in first week of Jan- the '09 will not be sold in india and the price is Rs 4000 more than the Honda..
I chose the honda for a few reason - always wanted a honda cbr 600rr - the was the colses option available, seemed like a bike one can ride to the market to buy a loaf of bread
, very safe and reliable, i dont like to showoff or attact attention, the R1 '10 model doesnot have any reviews yet i dont like to take risks.
Perhaps the '08 would have been a better choice givin that on road it was Rs11.6 only and felt just as nice but by the time i decided in May 09 to buy it they had stoped selling it
. so Honda it was.
I did contemplate the Hayabusa for a bit since it cost the same and the honda(Rs 500 more) but when i sat on it i did not feel comfortable they bike did not "speak" to me as one can say the honda felt like a well fitting glove.
@RanjithMN : ex Showroom Rs 12.5 lac + road tax 50K +insurance 26K = Rs 13,26,781/- comes with free honda safety course, number plate , key case and 5 liter of petrol but all services are fully paid incluse of labour washing, oil and filter cost about Rs 5000 per service minimum.
The do provide warrenty for 2 year or 32,000KM and would come to your location to provide support and service, in case it is a manufactuting defect then repair would be free.

Though I don't care about mileage much while riding the Fireblade, the 18kmpl observation is the full tank to full tank method of checking mileage. Though the PGM-Fi of Honda is pretty accurate, it is not much helpful in checking mileage due to constant change in our riding nature. Maybe it will be more useful during a longer ride.Originally posted by bunnymarwaha View Post@
