Default RD350 A Bloody Beauty

I do agree completely it was..is....and ever shall be a hell of a bike. Fantastic machine gave me goosebumps whenever i rode it. Owned a Torqe Induction around 5 years back, not many for sale at that time in the market n the bike really started giving a lot of trouble. Had to sell it unfortunately, regreted ever since. My worst break up ever.

bores? you mean cylinder blocks? i suspect whether R5 barrels will actually suit our Indian RDs.. R5 has no torque induction/ 7th port.. had only 5 gears too.. well that doesn't matter though.

Well.. just got disappointed to see that no one has written a true ownership experience of the legendary RD350 yet in this thread.. so, let me start with mine..

I fell in love with this awesome machine back in 2002.. when i saw a pic in the BSM for the first time.. till then, i never knew that Yamaha had a 350cc bike launched in India..poor me.... but with a simple gaze at that pic, i fell in my first love.. it was not a Scooty.. but was a beast..the RD350. From that day, i started my search for a beast though i didnt had a penny in my pocket.. i was just about to complete my degree days in my college. i was riding a Bajaj Spirit then.. i suddenly found one with my local mech.. but it was owned by someone else, who let it go without papers.. its still with my mech its been lying there for the past 13 years..

I searched and found another one.. the owner put me behind his RD and took me for a spin... man.. .. i was shocked to experience wot an RD meant actually.. But fate was not with me.. my father hesitated.. he instead bought me an RX100 then..

Did my PG on my RX.. then on a new TVS Victor.. well, the RX days was good.. but had to sell her due to poor economy then..

After the college, i took over my family business and continued the searching.. found a decent one @ Trivandrum.. bought it for 45k then

Spent a month restoring her.. got her new rings, wiring, seat, battery, tyres, mirrors, horns, tail light stem, handlebar, clutchplates etc.. and started using her. man.. she is defenetly male.. Had taken her to speeds above 130kmph[speedo].. and had still some 10-15 to go on her tap then..

Changed the CB points once..had some fuel flow issues also.. sorted it out with a new RD tap & lines.. chromed her once.. she is fine now.. its with me for the past 2 years..

So, i decided to give her a Fury disc upgrade.. spent 12k last month.. now she needs a good Cdi..

I wish to repaint her with the classic factory TZ Red & White Colour scheme someday..

But let me tell you.. maintaining an RD is not easy thesedays.. especially in small towns like Trichur. But its still worth the time & money spent.. infact, she always pays you back for every penny you spent on her with her extreme adrenaline rush....

Im living in the past thesedays..in the classic 70s.. when the bells were fat, hair was long, discos were cool and the air was filled with heavy blue smoke.. I've found my first love, after a looong wait...She is my dream Girl..my celestial passion forever.. till the moon ends at the bank of eternity..
