The bike now looks exactly looks the way she did when she left the showroom on Oct 11th 1983. I even have the saree guard and carrier. But for ease of cleaning the bike I have removed them.

And the best part is that I never had any of this stuff when I got the bike 7 yrs ago. It took me 3 years to get all the spares from diverse locations and I now have enough to get another whole bike done up.
That is some restoration project that you have there !!! Hats off to you . And I sure envy you, wish I had never sold off mine

Owning RD-350 My ultimate dream come true!!

My Biking experience starts 12 years back When I bought my first RX-100 1989 Model it was an awesome machine & the ultimate for me till I saw an RD 350 smoking me on the highway My RX-100 fully ported with flat slide carburettor & perfectly done sprocketting looked like teeny weeny fly in front of RD!

That day I decided I have to get myself an RD since that I have been constantly on a lookout for an RD in Mumbai, but the Prices have been going crazy ever since in the year 2000 someone offered me an RD for 40K but I didnt have that much money, so didnt buy that. It kept happening to me till the start of 2011 almost 11 years.

Finally I came across this Magnificent Beast it was dying a slow death & I decided to take it & bring it to life I am not sure how much money this will take & how long it will take but I am determined of bringing this awesome beast back to life & roaring on the Road.

I would like to request senior members & RD owners to please advise & help me in getting this beautiful Beast to its best. Thanx in Advance

I wonder, only these many user experiences?

I always thought, an RD owner can talk about 'Her' all day long?

Noone to write, except a few..

            RD Friends

I have been hunting for a RD for quite long time now

My love for this machine started way long back in 1990 when I was studying in my school, had seen one of my school senior (Sunil) he used to come in this bike & we were just used to watch with jaws down. we used to chit chat about this that this is the fastest bike in the world and what all??

am born in a lower middle class family and bikes are a dream for me, My dad was also a passionate about bikes, he initially had a Jawa with a bigger head and then he moved to a CL2, he met with an accident and then he moved to scooters. His yezdi was lying idle for long at the workshop guy and this guy also had a RD350 (Excellent Condition)

Finished schooling and joined college in 1993, had one of my collegemate coming in a RD350 once in a while, mint condition and that was the first RD350 which I had tried. I finished college & did my PG and couldnt still afford to source one, when I had money to purchase, I could not find a good RD 350, went ahead and purchased a Royal Enfield Lightning 535.

By around 2007 again got a chance to ride a RD350 in Bangalore, belongs to a mech in Indira Nagar, fell in love again, started searching for it around Chennai / Bangalore / Coimbatore...couldnt find one...work kept me going

Though I couldnt find a RD350, i currently have a Yezdi CL2, YBX, RX100, Lightning 535, Roadking (Now one of my friends is using it in Coimbatore), just still looking for a RD350 around here in Jaipur / Punjab

There are quite a few seen around in Punjab, but the problem is the books, most of it are not genuine. If found genuine they ask for a bomb. still my search for RD350 has not stopped...
Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

            Cheers

Me and my group of friends have decided to have an adventure trip to Calcutta from Mumbai on our bikes. We have decided to go this December if all goes well or in the December of 2004. We have also planned a trip to Darjeeling from Calcutta and probably Nepal throught the border.

According to our initial plan we will be taking 4 days to reach Calcutta and will start the darjeeling trip after a suitable rest at Calcutta.

Regarding this trip I wanted valuable info from u guys on the following:
1)I am probably buying a brand new high end bike like the Thunderbird 350/500(launch in Aug) or an Aquila this September or October. My question is...WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY, specially in respect to this trip. Which will be more reliable, efficient and effective in place like darjeeling where temperatures drop to 1degrees cel in Decmeber.

2)What should be my frequency of oil change during this journey, as the engine will be used to cover almost 500kms a dayi.e. 11 to 12 hrs a day.

3)I've heard that petrol freezes at low temperatures, and also that special antifreez petrol is sold in hill stations where the temperature is very low. IS THIS TRUE?? OR THE NORMAL PETROL IS JUST RIGHT FOR ANY TYPE OF CLIMATE?? What precautins should be taken to take care of this problem?

4)Will the bike give starting problems in low temperatures?

The trip spans for 39 days as per calc and roughly 6500-7500kms. Please help me out with this. Any extra suggestions from u guys will be most welcome.

Got general service done, i.e. carburettor cleaning, replaced battery and changed engine oil.
Bike is running fine giving approx milage of 20 kmpl.

Would like suggestions on following repairs in the bike:

                      2. Indicators, tail light replacements .
                      3. Headlight replacements .
                      4. Chrome plating of chrome accessories.
                      5. Painting of Tank and side panels.

Can you please suggest where i can source these parts in Bangalore and approximately how much they'll cost.
Also can you please suggest a good mechanic around Jayanagar area.

Afaik the stock RD350 was just 30 bhp. This PowerDrift video features completely modded RD350 which produces max 60bhp with a top speed of 177km/h.

don't ever say 'just' ..i was lucky to be able to ride a stock (well rebuilt and completely done up) rd350 way back in 2002.
The grin it put on my face..the goosebumps on my arms and as i got off,my left leg twitching like it had a mind of its own.. nothing else has come close to it thus far. My RX100 felt like a cycle after i rode that
