One of India's largest commercial vehicle makers, Mahindra and Mahindra, made its foray in the Indian two-wheeler segment with gearless scooters sometime back. Now the company is ready to launch a new motorcycle for the Indian customers.
“We are currently working on launching a motorcycle from the Mahindra stable that can be expected to hit the market some time in March 2011. Our priority is to focus on that for now,” says D Shinde, vice president, marketing, Mahindra Two-Wheelers. The company is expected to manufacture the vehicle at its Pithampur plant near Indore. The plant currently has a manufacturing capacity of producing 500,000 units annually. The company is expected to unveil models in the 100cc, 125cc and 150cc motorcycle segments, and also in the gearless low and high-powered scooter segments. It has already launched its small gearless scooter Mahindra Flyte in India and is doing well in the Indian market. M&M may use high end-technology and technical expertise of Engines Engineering to develop small yet powerful and fuel-efficient engines for motorcycles. “We will be present across all segments of scooters and motorcycles as we want to become a significant player in the two-wheeler market. The new motorcycle will be one of the many products we will launch,” said Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) President (Two-Wheeler Sector) Anoop Mathur. source:cartradeindia |

either M&M launches a iconic 2t or it wont have anything new and different for the market in 2011,a market which by then would be exhausted with regular 4T 150ccs with all bells n whistles. It wud be better if they come up wid 250ccs straight away.

I probably will choose a 250cc OR a 2 Stroke Fi from Mahindra as my next ride, for market exclusivity reasons (If its available & serviced in my city, only then). But, Why would anyone (including me) prefer a 100-150cc 4S from Mahindra when we have 3 Japanese companies & 2 Indian Companies already well established in these segments? Anybody has an answer to this..? |

Mahindra do something drastic, what Bajaj did few years back........ you'll be facing a lot of competition from other players........ play safe with something but do release something drastic for enthusiasts........
