either M&M launches a iconic 2t or it wont have anything new and different for the market in 2011,a market which by then would be exhausted with regular 4T 150ccs with all bells n whistles. It wud be better if they come up wid 250ccs straight away.

That's right. From Unicorn to FZ to GS 150R to YZF R15... We have almost every kind of feature combinations in the 150cc range, with comparatively better reliability.

I probably will choose a 250cc OR a 2 Stroke Fi from Mahindra as my next ride, for market exclusivity reasons (If its available & serviced in my city, only then).

But, Why would anyone (including me) prefer a 100-150cc 4S from Mahindra when we have 3 Japanese companies & 2 Indian Companies already well established in these segments?
Anybody has an answer to this..?

Mahindra do something drastic, what Bajaj did few years back........ you'll be facing a lot of competition from other players........ play safe with something but do release something drastic for enthusiasts........

I don't hope much from M&M. Their so far launches Rodeo and Duro are sub standard and I don't hope them to beat likes of Honda/Yamaha unless they foray into some niche segment altogether.

JD, Mahindra may not be able to do any of the wishlist talked here unless they partner with some company & they too know this. Bajaj has a strong affiliation towards Kawasaki & in recent terms sharing with KTM. Now that's one side story, HH is already selling in good numbers with Bajaj fast catching up, TVS has already rooted confidence with Apache; not to mention the serious players like Yamaha, Honda & Suzuki. Now if Mahindra has only one advantage that its their own soil, however, they need to prove something & that something cannot be taken from thin air other than they do something miracleously or practically with a JV with some motorcycle company abroad.

I think you are right. But why do they need uptil 2011 for making a 125cc bike?
I seriously doubt how it would fare in our already overloaded market.

Remember what happened to LML when it jumped into the motorcycle market with two disasters named ENERGY and ADRENO, ruled by HERO HONDA,BAJAJ,TVS.

Mahindra guys, be in your SUV department and try to make them good, you can't be BMW which makes exotics in both 2 and 4 wheelers.

                          PS:
your scoots are no good too.

You got so wrong! Rodeo and Duro are decent products and do come up with standards of other scoots around. The place they fall behind is Lack of service chain and Mahindra being new in it.

I believe it (Cevalo 125) would be like R15 in 150cc....same cubic capacity..but much more to it. Remember 15ps power.

Nothing wrong in trying, Mahindra has lots of cash. Not cash sick as LML. They can afford those experiments.

And yeah, Even those LML bike were not bad at all. Those bikes were too early for indian market. And LML was marked for very good scooters that did not help in rebuilding its image into motorcycles.

My family owns a duro and I can v[ouch] for its sub standard quality. To name few:
                              - worst plastic/fabric used
                              - shockers are like they have been plummeted for 20yrs before fitting to it
                              - my parents keep thinking that it doesn't fall apart while riding. Full body seems to be fragile.
To see the quality just set their RVMs and after riding for 100 meters it is off by at least 20-30 degrees by own and here, I am talking about a relatively new scoot bought in Dec end.
It could be little better for super luxurious roads which Indians are deprived of, but for any sub urban roads, it is too much to take care of.
I have read somewhere some really **good** words for rodeo too.

                              Full review:

Ohh yeah, after sales is even worse. For last month I couldn't get them to understand that too soft shockers and really bad ground clearance is a genuine problem.
