Prez. Obama blames India and China's increased demand for rising fuel prices.



According to President Barak Obama, rising demand in India and China is what is causing fuel price rise. Periodic increase in fuel prices has caused much distress to all. Obama has said that increase in fuel prices was solely due to growing demand in these two countries. He has now tabled a need for all US vehicles to average 23.16 kmpl in the next few years.
Demand for oil is rising faster than it can be supplied and this is what is causing repeated price rise. Demand for fuel in India and China needs to be met and unless steps are taken to increase fuel efficiency of vehicles the situation will only escalate.
The new plan for higher fuel efficiency has seen support from top auto manufacturers all over the globe. Ford, GM, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Volvo account for over 90% of vehicles sold in US. They have all supported this scheme of bringing out fuel efficient cars by 2017 which would reduce the country's dependence on foreign fuel.

This ain't diplomacy, this is a lawsuit! Anyways, the bottom line is that to some extent he is right, but fuel prices are not so relate-able so directly. OPEC has to secure its future, keeping in mind the national & international inflation.
But for achieving 23 kmpl, they'll have to end the rule of those gas guzzling SUV's. The common car might achieve 23 kmpl, atleast on paper, under ideal conditions but the 3-4 Litre SUV's have grim chances, although its possible.

Obama has lost it completely. Most Indian cars average around 15-20 kmpl. Most American car average around 3-8kmpl. Obama doesnt know that the limo he uses has 4litre+ V8 engine and most American cars have V6s and V8s. He should probably administer those issues first then blame emerging economies like India and China for rise in fuel prices.

+1. They should look at cleaning their own mess first before throwing muck at others.

He's just jealous that we're doing well.... so well that america is no longer a super power.. heck, no power at all.

Just 2 decades back they had a say in everything, today they still think they do. They still talk, only difference is that its still the same BS talk and they have no one listening.

Even our Tata and mahindra trucks (or suv's/mpv's) which are a decade old will give a run for their gas guzzling, feature rich, fully loaded, techno loaded cages.

That's not quite right; these days all the ads featured are based only on MPG & there's almost no ad without a MPG & that includes motorcycles & scooters as well. For that matter, Ford Mustang putting over 300 Bhp yields 32MPG which is like 15 Kmpl; they're realizing the importance of FE these days.

IMO ^^^ is the key issue & not anything else.
