NEW DELHI: Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary Suzuki Motor Corp, on Monday launched its cruiser bike Intruder M800 priced at Rs 8.88 lakh.

The bike powered by a 805cc engine has been launched in 12 cities, including Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad, the company said in a statement.

"The Intruder M800 is more focused as an entry level cruiser which performs like its bigger brother giving a chance to the Indian youth to step in to the world of performance biking," Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said.

The launch of M800 is aimed at expanding the company's big bikes range in India, he added.

At present the company's portfolio of high-end bikes in India includes M1800 priced at Rs 13.25 lakh, GSX-R1000 (Rs 13.75 lakh), Bandit 1200S (Rs 8.8 lakh) and the Hayabusa (Rs 13 lakh) in India.

Another one from the 800+cc segment. When will the companies start pouring in the middleweights is anybody's guess. Anyways, another entrant in the almost crowded cruiser segment. Lets see how this one does.

53 bhps from a bike that will cost close to 10lakh on the road!! It has AFAIK rear drum brakes!! Now that is as weird as it gets!! Also I think the picture is of an older version of the bike. The newer one has a rear exactly like the Intruder M1800!!

What is surprising is that one can find surprisingly little about this bike online, with almost no reviews, barring a few user opinions!! I'd have prefered the more classic styled C800, but then I think that's available only in the US!!

Reliability and brand value aside, in my opinion this makes the Hyosung ST7 and even the entry level HDs look real value for money!! Sort of what the Honda Jazz did to the Hyundai i20 !!

Totally right Sukant.
For cruiser lovers, ST7 and HD seem better in more aspects.
And for We, the street-sportsbike lovers, FZ1 will give 3 times the power at the same price.

So, who will buy the M800? Reliability may be a reason, but Suzuki's brand value in cruisers, is it that high?

And why is the name constantly reminding me of my dad's car? Suzuki M800 or Maruti Suzuki M800 or was it Maruti 800... Damn!

I guess they are late now specially with ST7 and Harley models already there.

Its just make the M1800 and Bandit look more VFM than before AFAIK...

I checked the US website after your post.

It still comes with a drum brake in the rear. Check it out yourself here

So Suzuki brought down a rather pointless bike. But, in their defence, that's all they had above the 800cc mark, except the V-Strom 1000. Every other bike is already available in India in some version or the other.
