well, traffic police should also fine perdestrains who use road as their backyards.
this practise of blowing horn too much is more in northern india. since nobody will be in a mood to pay 2000/= as fine, mostly traffic police constables will be collecting 100-200/= rs and fill their own pockets.

I used to ride in SIngapore for 2 years, I have used the horn only thrice while I was there. Although I'm not towards using loud horns, cant help it when you have moronic people crossing the road and cagers trying to run you down on the highway.
Have a single Roots Megasonic HT on my ZMA. Very happy with pedestrian scaring abilities, mulling on adding a second for the stubborn city a**wipes

Well you have no idea on the traffic here. I ride Blore-Mysore-Blore every weekend and everyone here can vouch for the traffic along that 160KM stretch which mandates such a horn. I have a rule that I use the horn only as an early warning mechanism. Ofcourse sometimes there are exceptions but I try my best to keep such occurences low.

So does this apply to trucks and buses with those piercing compressor-powered airhorns? If not, why not? They're a far worse problem, and far louder than the puny "airhorns" that can be mounted to a motorcycle. In fact, most of the so-called airhorns on motorcycles I've heard start about as loud as an ordinary electric horn, but quickly fade.
