Recently flipping through a French Online Magazine I came across an article on the new Ducati Streetfighter S. I wanted to share a little bit of info here.
![]() The Streetfighter S version takes its motor from the original 1098 that we have known so well at 155bhp, the frame comes from the tubular trellis of the more recent 1198, with minor changes and the swingarm is longer by 35mm. Rest of the electronics and data base remain the same including traction control on the S version. ![]() A highly perched seat, terrible sidestand, a large flat handlebar are probably the only minuses in this near perfect bike. Lower revs are soft to touch and not too aggressive which would be a boon to ride in the city. Both max power (155Bhp) and max Torque (115Nm) are achieved at the same place: 9500 rpm. Apparently it is found to behave more like an inline 4 than a V-twin.The first half of the Tach is quite soft in response. But after that one gets rapidly to the 155bhp. ![]() ![]() Ohlins forks, adjustable in every sense of the term, rebound, damping etc… Brembo pads on 330mm Brembo twin discs, this bike has got exemplary and precise braking. Rear monos are from Ohlins as well, Ducati does not believe in scrimp and save. ![]() Note however that the heat protector on the exhaust system does come in the way of the right heel especially when you are taking a tight fast left corner. ![]() This is what the console looks like. A light comes on when the traction control is activated. Similarly when it goes on to redline. But this is not a complete console for a Ducati. One has to lower the heat to read the speeds, quite frightening if you are going fast. This combined with the extra wide handle bar are probably the only defects of this wonderful machine. ![]() Twin cylinder in L at 90°. Liquid Cooled 4st. 1099CC, (104X64mm). 6Speed, Chain drive. Dry weight 167kgs. Colours: Red, Black, White. 2years unlimited warranty. Article courtesy: Etienne Garcin-Marrou - 29/04/2009 Photos courtesy : Moto Mag online magazine (France). Personally, I would prefer wind protection on any bike capable of doing 120kph+. Hence, for this reason, even though most street fighters are drool maal and look menacing, I would always prefer something like Fazer with that semi fairing or a decent sport bike
