Default xBhp needs volunteer ‘Resource Persons’ for leading Group Rides

xBhp needs volunteer ‘Resource Persons’ (Touring RP's)

xBhp is heading for different and better times ahead. Over the last few months, there have been quite a few very positive and also very notable changes in its structure, content and visibility. This is an ongoing process. And without doubt, the changes will be entirely built around promoting safe and sane motorcycling, both off-line and on-line. In short, all activities that have been happening on xBhp till date shall get bigger, better and involve a lot more members a lot more actively. And a few new ones shall come around.

As a part of this process, we invite responses from volunteers who shall be empanelled as ‘Resource Persons’ on xBhp. At the moment we are empanelling resource people for the purpose of organizing and executing Group Touring and Cross-country Rides.

Suppose, you are thoroughly familiar with a certain touring route, that you know it almost like the back of your hand, want to share the beauty and excitement you’ve experienced on it during your rides and feel you can guide a group of bikers on a ride along it taking care of all their needs like food, shelter, vehicle breakdowns and possible medical emergencies. If you’re an experienced biker yourself, are a familiar ID on the forum and can build a good rapport with other riders who might differ from you in age, gender, skills, experience and even economic background, then you’re our man/woman!

We need you to be all this to become an empaneled Touring RP on xBhp:
  • An experienced biker, whose passion for touring on two-wheels is insatiable.
  • Someone who has a compulsive need to share this passion with fellow bikers
  • Thorough familiarity with and knowledge about the route/s you propose.
  • The ability to independently plan a group ride on the proposed route/s with a group comprising of riders with differing levels riding skills and on-road experience.
  • Good leadership qualities along-with the ability to convert a group into a team. Needless to say, interpersonal relationship skills are as important as riding and organizing skills.
What kinds of route/s are acceptable here?
  • Any good route, preferably involving a ride above a minimum distance of 100 kms one side and no cap on maximum distance. This can include both on and off-road routes, hills, deserts, forests, coasts, cities etc etc.
  • There should be good and clean places to stay at the destination with an alternate enroute for any unforeseen emergency. To keep the rides financially within the reach of the majority, we would need to limit lodging charges to < Rs. 1000/- a night on a twin sharing basis. The lesser the better if comfort, safety and cleanliness are not compromised.
  • The route can include an element of walking/trekking/rafting/yatching etc in it too. For example, in the hills, the motorcycle ride can terminate at a town/village where the bikes can be left safely and the group can trek further for night-stay or excursion.

To volunteer, we would like you to furnish information about yourself in the following order:
  1. Name:
  2. City/town of residence or maximum presence:
  3. Member on xBhp since:
  4. Riding experience (in years):
  5. Riding experience (in kms travelled):
  6. Riding experience (in type of terrain): Mountains, GQ, National Highways, State-highways, Back-roads, Off-road etc
  7. Riding experience in group rides: Number of riders in the group/s and distance/duration of the ride/s
  8. Driving License: Are you licensed to drive only Motorcycles or both Motorcycles and Light Motor Vehicles?
  9. Your thoughts about yourself as a motorcyclist:
  10. Your thoughts about group motorcycle rides:
  11. Any additional skills that you are keen on sharing with fellow riders: (Photography, trekking, Yoga etc etc)
Please use this format for filling in with details about the proposed route. (We would need a separate route profile for each proposed route)
  1. From where to where:
  2. Total distance in kilometers:
  3. Distance each day:
  4. Typical riding time:
  5. Road conditions:
  6. Traffic conditions: (usually heavy, moderate, light. Any specific pattern of traffic density being related to time of day/day of week/month of year)
  7. Typical weather at different times of the year (will be easier if you relate it to the four seasons of the year)
  8. Accommodation: type and availability
  9. Food and water availability status, both enroute and at destination
  10. Fuel availability, both enroute and at destination
  11. Bike repair facilities/spare parts shops etc along the route
  12. Hospital/medical aid along the route
  13. ATM’s along the route and destination
  14. Political scenario, both enroute and at destination, if relevant of course.
  15. Points of interest, both enroute and at destination.
  16. Other relevant information: prohibition of photography, permits needed, presence of wild-life, religious significance, possibility of life-threatening natural phenomena etc
Please fill in your personal particulars and info related to your motorcycling experience in the from accessed by clicking the link below:
xBhp volunteer ‘Resource Persons’ (Touring RP's) Personal Particular's Form

Please fill in the details of the proposed routes by clicking on this link. Please fill in the form separately for each different route.
ROUTE DETAILS TO BE SUBMITTED BY xBhp TOURING RESOURCE PERSONS
(Volunteer application and ride proposal mean the same here)

PS: The idea is to involve RP’s as ‘mentors’ for popularizing safe and enjoyable touring on motorcycles. Of course, the ride expenditure of the RP’s shall be taken care of for any group ride they are asked to volunteer for on the routes they have proposed. Also, considering their riding expertise and experience along-with the fact that they have proven abilities for leading and executing group rides, they can be invited to lead rides on routes other than the ones they have proposed for.

Great initiative.

Is RP required physically for all group activities? Sharing information is fine but being available is difficult in most cases if its other than regular weekend ride.

Kashif: This is about making motorcycle touring safely accessible to those who would prefer to go in a group, have arrangements in place and want to be guided along by a competent rider.

It would be the best if you accompany the group for the route you propose but if for some reason you cannot go yourself, either we would depute a substitute or would want you to recommend someone competent to be the group leader. Of course, we would need your assistance in the lodging arrangements that you've recommended.

Practical!!

From Mumbai, although there are many who tour the best choice is listed here below
1. Razorblades
2. Ketan_R15
3. Spiderweb
4. Burioust

All of the above are exceptional tourers with great presence in the Mumbai Thread.

All the best to this initiative, lets hope that we have something concrete soon

P.S: i wanted to nominate myself, but then i would always be there to help in planning....road maps, hotel stays, to decide places of Interest.

This is great..finally we will have someone officially whom we can keep pestering
Ok..on a more serious note, how do the RP actually get associated with the rides.. I mean, from now on, if a group ride is planned in a offline g2g thread, would it mandatorily be under the RP's guidance..or only if the riders desperately asks for a RP..

If they think they deserve they will apply.
Am I right here in saying that.
BTW great initiative there......we will require some experienced rider to lead.
