Tip of the Day

Look all over

Develop an eye-scan pattern while you ride. Left far to right far to right close to left close with a once in two scans glance at the RVM’s and the instrument panel. For a focused rider, scanning is a patter-break detection system.

A Virgin White Sand Beach -Anjarle,Ratnagiri,Maharashtra

Image: A teaser Panoramic pic of the Anjarle Beach and 'Kadyavarcha Ganpati'

A small ride to Korlaigad,Alibaug and then a big one to Gujarat...however the twisties of NH17 were still all over my mind...I was cribbing all over since 2weeks that I wanted to ride to NH17..

    NH17 NH17 NH17 !!

Goa...malvan...ganpatipule..guhaghar..hari-hareshwar...shrivardhan..diveagar...murud..alibaug ...i didnt want to go to these places again as all these now have been crowded by tourists and the peace and serenity has been hampered by far...

Was searching google for places i havent visited in the konkan region..when my friend Ketan Nikharge mentioned on facebook "Konkan beckons!! Dapoli - Anjarle Beach - Kelshi(If possible, want to spend enough time at Anjarle n relax).. Want to visit the Ancient temple of 'Kadyavarcha Ganpati'. Seems tomorrow is the day ;-) What say Manas ? #Time to hit NH17 before winter disappears!"

I had never heard of this place before...however...

    "Anjarle
is a village in the Dapoli taluka of Ratnagiri district in the Maharashtra state of India. It is a small port located near the mouth of Jog river, about 4 miles south of Ade and 2 miles north of Suvarnadurga. The nearest railway station is Kolad, 110 miles to the south-east.

Apart from the nearby Ganpati temple, Anjarle is known for its unspoiled beach. Tourism facilities are limited.

Anjarle is connected to Dapoli, the closest town, by MSRTC buses, private taxis and autorickshaws.
Anjarle is situated around 18 km from Dapoli. State Transport buses run at an interval of 30–60 minutes. Buses start from Dapoli ST depot and drop passengers at Anjarle creek. In addition, private transport jeeps and rickshaws run between Dapoli and Anjarle."

This was the information given by wikipedia...

A quick call to Ketan Dada and Manas to know they were determined and would ride even if no one else joins in...told them would confirm late that night..

I had some personal work the same evening and a late night party to attend which definitely would have lasted till the morning hours..which i initially preferred...with my work done by 10pm i just made Veeral Joshi a call and told him about both..the party and the ride...to my surprise he preferred the ride...

Me almost bankrupt after the gujarat ride and later birthday and valentine's day didnt want to spend more but save....

(I spoke to myself) Save ? Save for what -- RIDE ! Isnt it..so why not tomorrow!

I confirmed with Manas and Ketan Dada (obviously after some stern words from him--"kai can/cant ghanta lasun challay? gapchup ye") and assured him..since he mentioned "ghanta lasun" I would get Veeral along too...(for his association with ghanta lasun etc.)

By that time Sachin and Himanshu also had asked me about any ride plans and they too confirmed for this..by 11pm confirmed the meeting points and thought of going to sleep...

But its almost impossible for me when im super-excited about a ride..also when you have Veeral Joshi as a friend who calls you post 2pm and asks to con-call people attending the party and talk crap with them !

So did we wake up on time ? met others on time ? Left on time ?

    Soon...

More pics and trip log soon...

    A summary for quick view:

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

thank you MG bhaiya for the quick approval...

    @rachit...next time a Mega-g2g somewhere along NH17

    continuing from the earlier post...

So did we wake up on time ? met others on time ? Left on time ?

We didnt sleep ! Its difficult when i'm excited and already have had a power nap in the afternoon...

however i slept at 3am and got up ata round 4:25am to wake up others..only to know all were already ready and ready to roll !

Our first and the only meet up point was the Mankhurd-Cheddanagar Junction on the Eastern express highway where we all met at around 5:15am and surprisingly no one was late

We wanted to leave the city-limits before the golden rays of the sun shone upon us...

And we did..reached Vadkhal Naka before the sun came up...most of the hotels there were still closed yet we found one where we had hot tea and good spicy misal(whose after-effects were visible later on the beach)...

Further after 10-15mins or so we stopped for a pee break along the NH17 where four-laning work is going on which should be very good in terms of ease in traffic, safety atleast...

The sun shining upon the brand new R15 V2.0 !

    Poser Boy

No thats not the effect of the misal ..that is how himanshu clicks without a tri-pod..

Also before I proceed further let me introduce you to the riders for this trip...

I have also linked their name with their Facebook profile page...so in case anyone interested in getting their daughter married to anyone of them..please feel free to message All of them are un-married for sure

Break at Mahad before heading Kashedi Ghat

We stopped enroute for 5mins when Ketan Dada got a call...i mean a phone-call ...It was his friend who saw us while she was travelling in a bus coming back from Goa..I was surprised to know she recognized him

Later we took a longer break at Mahad

where ketan dada went in search of what i dont know !

    Sachin's rubber

Ketan Dada's and Manas's Dog tags..

I hope the kid doesnt mean what is written on his t-shirt

The kids were too sweet to pose for a pic..

So overall till now NH17 was good except for some(very few) potholes enroute and few obstructions...

Riding paradise for bikers-Kashedi Ghat up next...
