  • [Photo Feature]: A trip for Malshej turned to be Lenadri and Shivneri!!

With pics not visible, so re-writing the story!!.lol...
    Tuesday 21st Aug:

I was seating at my desk thinking of my monsoon ride which i did consecutively, 15th Aug Lonavla and 18-20 Aug Mahabaleshwar. Lonavla was on bike but Mahabaleshwar was in my car.

Then why there was a need of next trip that too in Aug itself??
    .
    .
    .
    .
It was the punishment that i had to compensate my this trip, i went to mahabaleshwar with friends, so my better half was angry and just to make happy i had to do this Malshej Trip....

So I was thinking where to go, short and sweet??? Malsej Ghat!! WoW!!
This is the heaven for many bikers in Monsoon...
So it was set and confirmed. Passed by Home Ministery also.

But on Friday 24th Aug i was seeing the google map for Malsej Ghat route with some other stop near by, and suddenly i saw Lenadri and Shivneri at odd 20-25kms. So i din't informed my beloved that there is a change in the plan, but kept it as Surprise!!

Planned to leave by 6:00am on 25th Aug Saturday morning. But left by 7:50am. Scenary where awesome and lovely!! Route beyond Titwala left turn till Shivneri right turn was awesome!! NH222 Rocks!!

An excellent place for Sports bike riders!! Many turns, Pin head turns, etc..You can literally check your machine handling on turns at high speeds!!
I would recommend Malsez Ghat visit to very biker who wants some fun on roads and check their bikes limit...

Ride till some good kms and waited to one Dhaba, Rainbow dhaba, had Pohe, which was awesome and lovely at that time to have with that pleasant environment and kool climate..all over there was Fog!! Fog!!

    Love birds in the dhaba
Some beautiful Ducks in the dhaba

Scenes where awesome and lovely to see...
on the way to Malsej Ghat, some 10kms before the spot:

Very soon with in 40mins we were bored there and time was 11:15am....

Malsej Ghat don't have much things to apart from that point or Water fall bath..we din't had any plans for water fall bath due to security reasons, mostly all people are drunk on Malsej Ghat...

so left the place as i had PLAN B also...

One of the Ganesh Temple from Ashtvinak. AND SHIVNERI FORT the birth place of The GREAT SHIVAJI!!! I am also a great fan of Shivaji and Forts. So i can't leave this chance to visit Ganesh Temple and Shivaji Fort, it was merely 25-35kms from Malshej Ghat!!!So time to execute Plan B. Left from Malsej by 11:30 to Junnar.

Way to Junnar through mountain road:

Now it was the time for Junnar Visit!!!!

There was awesome greenary in Junnar and road to Junnar!!

By the time we reached Junnar, my wife started questioning, "Why are we going Junnar??" I said, Just to see few more spots!! She asked"What spots??"
I said, "Ganesh Temple and Shivneri Fort". She was happy that a half day trip was turned to full day trip.
Now i had to make a decision which place to visit first???
I am a Hanuman and Ganesh Devotee!! So undoubtedly Ganesh Temple was first in my list!!
You have to go through wonderful grapes farm to reach Lenadri Temple.
It's a temple in caves on the mountain with steep steps to climb!!
            Lenadri Temple entrance Road:

There were lots of monkey allover and a note at the entrance of temple premises, "Please do not feed the monkeys". Actually we don't need to feed to any monkey they forcefully fight with you and take the prasad which were suppose to be given to Ganesh god. So i planned to hide my pooja ki plastic in my helmet.

This is what i was talking about, This monkey tore of the plastic to eat pedas and sweet white danas from the plastic, Poor mad was going to put these Pooja stuffs to god, Moneky even ate those flowers too.

            Lenadri Temple

            the view from temple:

Body guards of the temple..he he he..

While stepping down from temple I saw a small monkey trying to drink water from a bottle, even this bottle was snatched from the visitors. But i guess he was no experienced. Becuase he wasn't able to open the bottle. So, i went to him to open the bottle and given him to drink.
But he wasn't able to drink..lol...both were of same height only...

So I poured few water for him to drink.

And he drank the water and left from there, but i had to pour it 2-3 times, as rocks were hot and water was getting soaked by rock.

Later saw a cat guarding the Stuffs at one of the vendor store...

Climbing and getting down from Lenadri Temple is a big job, i was breathing high and was really tired.
now the question struck me, was will i be able to climb the Shivneri Fort?? Where as this lenadri took to so hard to climb??
But still self confidence was there to climb....Atlast left for Shivneri, which was 5kms from Lenadri temple.
Reached Shivneri fort by 1:30pm and purchased some vatanas, Chakklies, Water, Lemon drink, etc.etc..for the time pass and chewing while exploring the Fort!!

View from second gate i.e Mena Gate:

            Hathi Gate Doors:

Visited Shivai Devi temple which was there with in the Fort.
Shivaji was born here and got his name due to this Shivai Devi...

ancient ways of capturing water at so height!! As in ancient age it was hard to pull the water to such height, Fort was situated over a mountain, So tehy built big big tanks which use to store water in rainy seasons and were used for full years..Even there were man made ponds up.

I over one of the gate:

Idagah: don't know what it is, but it's there in the fort.

            Shivaji and JijaMata statue

The place where shivaji was born and shivaji's childhood PALNA

first floor of the birth place

one of the personal bathing tank

man made water reservoir with in the fort, it's big!!

            way towards Kadeloft Point

            Kadeloft Point:

            View from Kadeloft point

Ambarkhana, next to Idagah...don't know what it is?? I wish i could have known this also.

Facebook famous Tree... I saw many people clicking their pics with this tree for facebook, they were saying " Hey click one pick with this tree, will make it a cover page!!"...lol...

Now we started stepping down as it was already 4:15pm and i wanted to reach home or cross that jungle route NH222 before it's dark!!

              Again reached Mashej point
Now it was raining heavily at malshej point

              Malshej from far point

              Fog at one junction only!!

Can't control the urge to get wet in Water fall, so started searching for a fall where there should not be any bad people or crowd, so got this:

While coming from Kalyan to Malshej saw Salman on this White Hayabusa, with few guards in land Rover!

Mean while caught into some racing with P150 and P180, they were nice rider too, to my shock, they were bending their Pulsars at corners...and it was a hell!!
But just to have fun gave them a cat-rat chase...as usual i was clocking 120-125kmph in now time. Handling and braking was awesome, I am happy that i purchased R15, it's too good in corners!! In no time i use to overtake him. for good 12-15kms we raced and later i left it, as i had pillion with, actually I shouldn't have raced, but my bad inner instinct!! Later regretted a lot, why did i raced with a pillion??? It's very bad to race, generally i don't race, because i know my bikes limit and capacity, i don't need to prove anyone!!
PLEASE NEVER RACE WITH A PILLION!!! Even if it's R15 or GT250 or Ninja.
              Day came to an end,

we reached home by 7:48pm, fully tired and restless, eyes were burning like hell and at last with a good memories of a trip which was suppose to be a Malshej Ghat trip but eventually turned to Lenadri and Shivneri Trip!!! Take care and Best wishes to you and your Family!!

Some nice pix there.. Malshej always looks beautiful in all seasons..
Just an advice, as the ghat is not so safe to ride.. Some more safety on you & the pillion would have been just great..I assume the pillion isn't with a helmet..
And its nice, that you realized about the hazards of racing specially with wife as a pillion, though post the race..
Nevertheless, touring with wife is a different fun
