Just now, I gone through this thread and decided to post my lid's painitng process here. I think it might be helpful for amateurs like me. This is our first ever custom paint job. All we had was a very good designer and a painter with some patience (his painting doesn't have good finish).

I bought a CROSS's Cruze helmet from Cochin while my bike was undergoing some modifications and mechanical works. I chose a simple black helmet with minimal graphics because we were about to repaint it. Even though Cross has some pretty good graphic schemes on the same model. I bought it for Rs.1950.

My designer (Gautham Suresh capt. Street Lordz atunt team, Kerala) made an awesome design for my lid. But the painter had no idea for how to make it real. Then, me and my 2 friends decided to make it real.

1. The design was made in photoshop

2. we redraw it with Coreldraw for making the stickers.

3. Made the stickers on a non reflective green sticker material since it can be removed very easily.

4. sanded the stock helmet.

3. removed inner paddings, cheek pads and visor.

4. covered all the air vents and black rubber beedings with masking tape.

5. applied primer.

6. a white base coat of paint has been made,

7. 2 layers of Green paint was applied.

8. Now, we pasted the stickers on both side of the helmet. Since the design had very small objects we struggled a lot on this stage, we never had previous experience on none of these stuffs. . Somehow we placed the stickers on correct places. It took almost 2-3 hours for us.

9. Now, we have to paint a black layer over these stickers, the main problem was, we did not had an air brush. What we had was a normal sized spray gun, which the painter used to paint on driving school's truckers and auto rikshaws. We asked him to set the pressure on lowest possible level. and he applied the black paint as we said. we needed a gradient like finish on the edges of the stickers. he made it for us.

10. Then came the next painstaking work. removing the stickers. This has to be done with very much care and precision. We were using a blade to remove the stickers. If anything goes wrong the whole work will be gone. Also we didn't had spare paint left with us. But this process was much easier than we expected. We removed it in 20 mins without any problem. Voila!! we done it!!.. . we were all happy because, we were experimenting on this.

11. Next we applied 2 layers of clear coat.

and the Helmet is finished.

Check out the different stages of paint job.

We used the same method for painting our second work. The Street Monster AGV.
its really awesome man
