Default Bike security

Hello guys , nowadays risks of bikes being stolen is increasing . What made me remind the necessity of a security system or some sort of protection or whatever you may call it , is an incident that happened today . Outside a college when a guy returned from his lectures with his friends , he found that something is wrong in the bike . Then one of his friends told that his block was changed . Although there is public outside where the students park the bike thing like happened . I thought of a way it may be possible ( Sherlock Holmes fan ) . That guy was like , the bike was his new uni . Those guys where able to figure out but I dont think total noobs can do so . And bikes and scooters being stolen from bus stops and railways is also no big deal , been there since years.

I guess we should use this thread to discuss gadgets and methods to protect our bikes from such things . There are some gadgets like autocop , fork lock etc but I dont know in detail what these work like and how they protect our bikes etc . A person knowing about these things could take lead and explain us or name the types of gadgets available so that we can google out . We can discuss various brands also here .

I ll start off with a query .
Is there any gadget that could protect our blocks from being stolen ?

Thanks

You mean the complete engine block was changed? I somehow doubt it. Did you confirm it by verifying the engine number? It would be much easier to break the lock and drive off with the motorcycle!

The safest thing is a wheel lock to prevent the bike from being stolen.
Otherwise handle lock assembly can be removed easily as in the case of Aryan's bike.
I personally don't prefer security systems as the audio is very lous&irritating. The other day when we parked in the basement of KFC, my friend's hand happened to touch a Pulsar's helmet which was hanging from the grabrail. It must have caused a small movement&the security system starting beeping loudly, but went silent after a minute or two.

More than all this, I feel we should look for secured parking spots where there is less risk of any theft of parts/vehicles.

I'd prefer the iginition kill feature.

Abhijeet I did want to meddle in between so kept quite . Yeah thats what they said . As It is more risky to get caught if the bike is stolen . You may get caught as the guy 's friend if saw the person with the bike ( number plate ) then its not a tough task . But if someone changes engine block how can possibly someone catch him unless there is some checking . And we know there are people who play around with engine number also . Everything can happen nowadays .

Even then, why would they bother to fix another engine in its place. Also, number plates can be easily swapped.

Anyways, a 2 level security system with a ignition kill feature and a wheel lock will be the best solution.

In some countries, people lock their bi-cycles using costly locks to some thing secure objcts like cycle stand grill, gate, other tough/secure things, they do it even if they are leaving their cycle for few minutes.
So if we want our bike not to be stolen we should also keep an optional locking facilities. Plus OEMs should make seperate locks for handle and ignition.
A small inconvinience means double security...

It's better to stay away from remote type security systems since it'll go kaput after the rains !
