Bike security has become a serious concern to me and for many of you too. My friend's bike has got stolen a month ago. Through his experience I learned that only 20% bikes are found by cops.

      .

sorry that ur friends bike is stolen. but can you share how it happened so that we can be more alert..where it happened?
also is insurance applies for stolen bikes so that we can buy a new bike from insurance money?

If your bike has a disc brake setup why not buy the Xena Disc Alarm lock?

See the Ninja 250 ownership thread for more details or xenasecurity.com

Someone as talking bout charging phones through the bikes battery and IT IS possible. i went to the store "The mobile Store" and they had a mobile charger for bikes which you connect the positive and negative to the bikes battery and viola! your phone charges while your bike is on.....

P.S. it cost $500 at that time and i think it might have been china company/made..
          PHP Code:

You mean Rs 500 right..?? If dats so then its not that bad a deal but $500 seems extravagant and that too considering you went into "the mobile store". That amount would get you a top of the range handset and a few extra batteries( unless off course you have a half bitten fruit on your phone ).
              Lots to do still...

there are some center locks available in the market which can lock, unlock, start ignition, stop ignition and control immobilizer from remote. Most of these are not branded. I was wondering whether the same remote could accidentally lock or unlock all bikes with auto locks in its range advice please ..

Even my friend's P220S got stolen at just 2 months. It's very simple to steal a Pulsar if you have the right tools. The thin strip of metal that is the steering lock is extremely easy to cut with a cutting tool. Then, for someone who is familiar with bike electricals, it is just a matter of puling out the wires from the ignition and hot-wiring it. Honda bikes are tougher to steal in that the steering lock is better protected. You will know what I'm talking about if you just take a peek below at your steering lock.

Disc Lock / Bike Security Locks or devices

                          Hi All-

I am in Pune and i now own a Avenger 220. I live in a theft prone area and would like to know where i can purchase disc lock in mumbai / pune?

My pulsar 150 was recetly stolen from my parking - due to which i currently use chain locks for the two wheels and a hardened chain-up the bike (using the chassis) to a pillar in the parking. While this is a good measure for the evening / night, i think that a disc lock could be a good deterent during the day time.

Can anyone help me with the purchase of the disc locks in and around mumbai / pune?

                          Regards
                          Rishikesh Shinde

I also did the same thing i connected a small switch in the mains and until and unless the switch is turned on the panel of my P220 remains off so if someone tries to break the lock and start it by short circuiting then it will be of no use.
But if he figures out the small switch then its the end of all security measures

No there is a very minimum possibilty of this to happen.
As each of these remote comes with a receiver and transmitter and these pairs contains a circuitary which is tuned to work in some particular frequency. Most of the devices work in Radio Waves and radio waves covers a vast spectrum.
So even if each devices are tuned to work in a frequency difference of 2 KHz then many devices are possible and also they use a highly sensitive filters to exactly match the frequency.
And suppose they manufacture 1000 units and sell it in northern region the same units can be sold in southern region with the same tuned frequency. So chances of meeting of the southern states bikes and northern states bike is pretty less and less chances of u unlocking someone else bike.
I am not sure but same is the logic in designing bike locks and keys
