Default Pulsar 180 or Apache RTR 180

Hello Everybody...

I am in process of buying a new bike. Till now I had A Pulsar 150 DTSI for about 3 1/2 years. No the digital speedo but with the analogue one.

Now I am thinking of upgrading. Well I have zeroed in on the Pulsar 180 and the RTR 180. No Pulsar 220 or Karizma for me. I know they are good bikes but I feel for me 180 is fine.

Coming to the choosing part I am having a hard time. Whatever others say I was very happy with the Pulsar. I had no issues no problems at all for 3 good years.
Now I test drove both the pulsar 180 and the RTR 180 and both the bikes were awsome.
I was impressed by the RTR too.

Now I want all the experts opinion for which bike to choose.

I generally drive in city everyday about 40kms to and fro from office. Weekends sometimes go on a long drive.
And rarely some driving tours say once or twice in a year.

So please suggest me the best one in these two bikes.

Thanks.

Thanks Aryan.

Further to my post above I noted that the Pulsar 180 does not have a kick lever unlike its predecessors.
I would have been haapy with the kick lever. I do not know if this is a problem.
Sometimes my P150 would not start with the electric start after a gap of some days and some cold morning too.
Guys using the new P180 please let know if you faced any problems.
The idea of push starting the bike does not appeal to me much...

IMHO, the apache 180 is better looking and an aggressive handler(compared to the pulsar 180).

For me, for city driving i'd choose A-180. Fast and nimble, hits 12K like mad.

PS-Whatever I and the others say, go for what your heart and mind agrees with.

Edit : Apache 180 has a kick too

If U can survive with Vibes under your bump,,then go ahead with rtr 180, My friend had this new 180 & this bike feels like big & well-sorted out compared to earlier generation of pulsars.

Also news is that TVS is coming with Fuel-Injected version of this rtr-180 which I think will further come with some more refinement where this present rtr 180 lacks.

Since U already made a choice between two,.. I'd further request U to go for new 220 dtsi which is the best VFM & u will not regret your choice for the coming 12-24 months to say & U can happily stay with competition growing in 2010 & 2011.

Hi guru..
My suggestion is to go for Pulsar 180 as it is the most refined from all pulsar's(180's).
i own a Pulsar 180 UG4(2009 edition), i bought it in june and so far it has clocked 4650kms. i regularly get a mileage between 48-52kmpl. and never faced any issues with self start , even once i started it after almost 4days and it started in 1st crank. so need not to worry about no kick lever.you will love it after getting used to bike.

Pulsar 180 ,If You Like Seating Comfort ,Comparatively better Mileage(Guy I met claimed He gets above 50kmpl mileage on UGIV!!!).

^Apart from these RTR 180 fits better on this segment;especially when coming to peformance ,without rev limiter ,dual disc brakes,City Screamer.all reviews vouch for this.Fuel Efficiency of RTR 180 ,I get is around 35-40kmpl only(I ride above 60kmph in highways).

The mileage always differs from rider to rider as the riding styles are different. I would say the mileage should be almost equal 5kms on the -ve or +ve side.

My advice would be to go with what your heart says. It is just like selecting a girlfriend.

@GuruBhai :- RTR is the best of the two.,but your post shows that you are commuter and you are going to do bit of touring isnt ?but remember you'll get bored with P180 very soon ,on the other hand you can do tweaks in RTR engine . . . so its up to you mate !I'll vote for RTR 180
