Choose between ZMA or the P220.

>> Large bike.
>> More powerful than the RTR160
>> Budget of 1 lakh

Your options would be: Karizma, P220 DTSi, Royal Enfield Bullet/Thunderbird.

As far as I know the R.E T-Bird has one of the most comfortable perches for the pillion.

But since your wife is a major decision maker here, I'd advise you to take her to the respective showrooms, let her take a test ride as a pillion and then LET HER Decide.

Best of Luck

Thanks Guys,

I ve planned to wait for 1 more month, to see if there is really any such thing as a "NEW" ZMA .

Else, i am goin in for the latest version of ZMA....i guess its ZMA R(whatever that R stands for).

Reasons:
  • I actually dont want to be the 'fastest Indian'
  • My inferiority complex doubles when i sit on RE
  • I prefer feeling 'Mortal'; than "Feeling like God"
Will keep my eyes, ears wide open for the New ZMA...

Thanks all.

Rgds

@Praveenz: I am in a similar situation as you. Recently got married. My wife has been pillion with me both on the 220 (Mostly) and the Zma(Delhi-Lansdowne) for tours. For sheer pillion comfort, zma wins handsdown.
However, she loves the punch the 220 packs in and doesn't mind the discomfort at all

At your price point, Bulls are an option but somehow, i am scared of it coz have had nightmarish problems with it. You dont want a bike stalling on a highway when your wife is around. Remember, safety/reliability should be the main criteria.

your requirements: power, plushness, price tag upto 1lach

Bikes u should try: zma, fz-16, fazer(not the old one), r-15(if u can push ur budget some further)

Reason:
1.zma:
zma, as u know is an gr8 handler and has enough power to satisfy ur needs, if u can be able to live with those dated looks, i dont think u shuld wait for the upcoming model, as the news is not yet confirmed by HH

And the rear suspensions is very good, i hope ur wife would never complain again if u bring this bike

2.fz-16: look out for fz-16, it has gri8 handling and pickup is good(compared to rtr, but the top speed is )
And at rear it holds wide rear tyre under its hood, so obviously the grip will be good n finally ur wife will be happy

3.fazer(yet to be launched): yamaha has done the same way as it do internationally it is launching fazer based on fz-16, the changes u notice on fazer is the quarter fairing which u cant find on fz, this bike is a blast, it looks stylish, fresh, n as we are aware of the yamahas standards we cannot complain abut this bike
this bike looks stunning in blue, try this, u'll not regret nor ur wife
(pic courtesy MOTORBEAM)

4.r15: this bike is a top notch delivery from yamaha, n the bikes linked suspension at the rear will make u happy, u cant go wrong with this bike if can afford to bring it on

If i were u: My choice would upcoming fazer

Note:
the bikes with step seats such as p200, 220, might be some problem for the pillions to get on(such as ur wife who might sit sideways, common in INDIA) , so did'nt suggested them even though the new p220 got even better, hotter, n meaner.

If u want a bike with both Power - Crusing - Very much good for a female Pillion .....

I would suggest Avenger...
Married Girls like mostly soft sounded bikes - which has the facility of sliding towards the Rider and also at the back.......
TBTS lacks in the point of smoother sound....and also maintenacen cost is also high
Avenger is best in the business in case of giving comfort level for the Pillion....
If you still have more money and would like to spend on a two wheeler and like to give more and more comfort level for your pillion i would suggest........
Honda GOLDWING........
