10,000 km across a diverse nation like ours; that pretty much sums up the sheer test that #roadTripUnited2022 was for all our machines. To be able to complete such a trip is enough to secure top marks but more than that, such a ride also provides one with the chance to really know the machines inside and out. So here, we are going to distil our experience with each of those throughout the 10,000 km of #roadTripUnited2022. Helmets on for this is going to be a heck of a ride!

The first, the smallest, but perhaps the most spirited; that is what we feel about the TVS NTORQ 125 Smart Scooter after taking it around India for a second time! It was a prominent part of the cavalcade in #roadTripUnited2021 and the same goes for #roadTripUnited2022 but with a stature elevated even more. The NTORQ 125 has everything one can ask for; it looks stunning, it goes like very few scooters can and it is loaded with tech that makes arduous trips like this much easier.

Starting with the design, the NTORQ 125 has a very appealing and aggressive design. So much so that it more than kept up with the bigger machines in terms of how it looks. The stealth-fighter-like design of the NTORQ 125 has been one of the many reasons for the massive popularity and following that it has enjoyed ever since it burst onto the scene. The NTORQ 125 was aimed at the youth but its appeal has since transcended that demographic.

Another ace in the arsenal of the NTORQ 125 is technology. All-LED lighting, a fully-digital console, and Bluetooth connectivity with SmartXonnect open up a whole new world of connected riding. Connect it with your smartphone and that enables navigation, call and message alerts, ride statistics and so much more. In this regard, the NTORQ 125 is miles ahead of not just a lot of scooters but a fair few motorcycles as well!

When it comes to performance, we never had any doubts considering how much TVS focuses on that particular aspect. And yet, despite our high hopes, the NTORQ 125 always manages to exceed our expectations. From its 125cc 3-valve CVTi engine, the NTORQ 125 extracts 9.25 bhp of power which, combined with the light weight, makes for a scooter with very peppy performance. On top of that, TVS’ Race-Tuned Fuel Injection makes sure that the fueling is spot on and you have the signature TVS throttle response.

With that kind of performance and footprint, the NTORQ 125 is a joy in the city. But surprisingly, it was found hot at the heels of much bigger machines on the highways too, at least at the legal speeds. But then again, TVS has rated the NTORQ 125’s top speed to be 95 kays an hour which makes it one of the quickest and fastest scooters around. The exhaust note is another aspect that makes the NTORQ 125 very appealing. It is bassy, it is sporty and it sounds unlike any other scooter out there. In addition to a solid performance from the engine, the NTORQ 125 is quite capable dynamically and TVS tends to nail that aspect in all their vehicles. From straight-line stability to almost surreal confidence in the corners, the NTORQ 125 is one of, if not the most well-rounded scooters available in the market at the moment. After all, a scooter that can be a part of such a decorated cavalcade and go more than 10,000 km around India in varying conditions has to be pretty darn good, right?
