Finally, my month long bicycle trip to Spiti Valley in the Himalayas comes to an end. The idea was first discussed at a dhaba while having dinner. It sounded insane at first, later after sleeping over it and thinking about it, it still sounded crazy. Now, after completing it, it somehow still sounds crazy. We knew we can do any terrain on motorcycles, question was, could we do it on a bicycle? The biggest challenge was to shift from the '800kms a day' mindset of a biker to a '50kms a day' mindset of a cyclist. Cycling for around 700kms at 13000-14500ft spread over a month, that was challenging yourself. At that point it was something which was impossible for us to do and the 'impossibility' was the precise reason we took it up. After losing 9kgs in weight and 2 sizes at waist, we learnt a few important lessons of life:
1. Together, United, you can pull off anything in life.
2. If you haven't done something which you yourself described as impossible, you haven't lived life!
3. If you haven't pushed your body to the point where you start bleeding from your nose, you have not known your limits.
4. If you haven't pushed yourself to the point where you are on the verge of passing out, you ain't alive!
5. Acknowledge your fears, get out there, challenge them and overcome them. Get alive! The feeling is priceless!
What happens when 3 untrained, unprepared motorcyclists decide to do a tour on bicycles...... and of all the places, directly to Spiti Valley ! The detailed blog will be updated by Om Vaikul! Till then enjoy the pics!
