First fix a budget. Then the bike type. Hybrid and Road are very different bikes. Why don't you fox a budget of say 30k for the bike and then confirm if you want to go for Hybrid. We can give you lots of options once you have decided on these two parameters.

I am planning to buy a bicycle for my office commute (13km one way) and occasional short weekend rides (<30km). I am currently residing in Bangalore. I want to buy a road / hybrid bike. 5 years ago I had a Btwin rockrider but was stolen. I felt that was a very heavy MTB style bike which I don't want one.
I am thinking about Trek FX 2 (one of Trek's low end variant) and Firefox Volante (one of Firefox's high end hybrid bike). I find Firefox Volante got better Shimano components and also it is little cheaper. However, many says that Trek has good quality. I am very much new to this and please advise me which one should I go.
I checked Btwin Triban 100 (10K less than Firefox Volante) but somehow I find the quality (visibly) is not that great. I have to mention that I have not checked either the Trek or Firefox cycle yet. Also I find Triban does not have a front derailleur. I don't know whether this is really needed or not. My office commutes has some inclines, damaged roads (typical bangalore roads) etc.
