Yup. Running shoes are not the best for cycling. Cycling has dedicated footwear. But for starters you can use any kind of shoes which have a hard sole. The stiffer the sole the better. The reason being, if the sole is too soft, the pedal presses against certain parts of your foot and over time it will hurt. But if the sole is stiff, then the power from your leg is diffused over the entirety of the sole and not just on the contact point.

But for a commuter, if you have nice big broad platform pedals, then even sneakers will do the job. You can always upgrade when you start clocking some serious miles.

Woodlands would be too heavy. You want the lightest that you can find.

Hi, Im looking to take on cycling everyday to burn calories instead of joining in Gym. My budget is 25K and zeroed in on BTWIN triban 100. Problem is im buying it online and not sure about Whether to choose M size or L size bike. Im 5'8 and 70Kg at 26 age. Also im from remote village situated 350km away from decathlon store in chennai.
