I sense you have already done enough research on hybrid cycles. Go ahead and buy the one you liked the most. Budget overrun of 500-2k with accessories should be fine as you need a the cycle for 30-35kms on a daily basis.

Just go for it and enjoy your ride👍. I bet you won't regret with any decent bicycle once you start riding. ☺️

Returning after a long time since my last query..just wanted to make sure rains are over when I get my cycle.. but now after looking at the condition of roads on my daily route I'm not so sure about getting a hybrid cycle. So scratched the hybrids from the list and now narrowed it down to 4 cycles under Rs.12k/-.
Roadeo hank/fugitive 27.5/29er (mild steel frame)
Hero Octane Springbok 27.5 (alloy)
Hero Octane Caspian 29er (alloy)
and around 1.5k expensive
Hero sprint pro reaction 650b (alloy) similar to springbok only addition is suspension lock out feature.
I'm considering Springbok let me know your thoughts.
Will be visiting few shops this Sunday to get the feel of these bike.

Any hybrid with rigid fork will do the trick. Consider cheap 8 speed over 7 speed. Google the freewheel and freehub thing.

Hybrids are just enough for your intended use. Stay away from cheap suspension forks and mtb will be overkill imo.

but can hybrids wheels take care of my weight on broken (potholes) road.. if yes pls suggest me some in range of 12k.
How is hero zephyr 7s in comparison to mach city munich 21? and can I upgrade 700x35c to something wider than 35c on stock rims.

If i were you ..i will save some more and go for a descent hybrid in the range of 18 to 20k .
Imo Hybrid or even roadbike can take your weight easily but for that you need to select one good quality frame and wheels.
Mtb looks more like a macho but when comes to daily commuting nothing can beat hybrid. Do your own research on net , if you are going for a cheap heavy model you will need to upgrade sooner.

I would suggest to check hybrids from brands like specialized, trek, Scott, Merida etc. They will be but expensive but build quality will be far far better than hero or montra. Feel free to ask any query I can help as I am into cycling. I have 1-mtb and 1-riad bike.

I've borrowed munich 21s for a week from my cousin. Past two days I've been getting used to riding in my neighborhood , just want to gain some confidence back with cycling before hitting the main roads. I'm planning to hit my daily route to office this Friday on cycle.
Having rode cycles with wider tyres in my childhood these 700x35c looks very narrow. Can I install anything wider than 35c on stock rims of hybrids once the preinstalled tyres are worn out?

No need to install wider tyres imo, btw you can install upto 700x45 easily on any hybrid

so after riding munich 21 to work for few days and and getting 4 punctures fixed in 12 days (is it normal) I was considering buying montra downtown and so went to nearby track n trail store. The store executive at first said montra downtown wud be able to handle my weight even if I dint dodge a pothole or two. But then store owner came in & started to pitch me about montra madrock and how it wud b better choice than downtown on broken roads (city has many but my route to work is good) he also said that downtown might often give problems like puncture, rim bends and spoke breakage. So pls help me now what shud I consider downtown / madrock 27.5 or shud i increase my budget by around 3k and go for backbeat 27.5 /helicon?

4 pictures in 12 days is possible, but really unusual. Causes can be
- inadequate tire pressure or old puncture seals giving up etc.
-old, overused weakened tubes or tires.
-an organised puncture nexus in-business along your route.
-you are walking/riding over pavements which might have sharp things. Even certain tree stems/leaves/touch-me-not can cause punctures. (Watch out in case you cross vegetable market)

Observe if the puncture menifests slowly or suddenly. Based on that you need to take corrective action.

I think 700x35 should be more than enough to take 90kg rider.

Below is my experience of riding both MTB and Hybrid which I have been using for last 5 years:

Monovering/turning in congested traffic gets better with smaller wheels like 26 inch.
Most MTBs come with 42-32-24 (teeth) front gears compared to most hybrids 48-38-28 teeth combi.
What this means (for commutes) is in hybrids I end up using middle gear (2-x) 90% of time and top gear (3-x) goes unused. The 42-32-24 on MTB are easier on legs and useage of 3-x and 2-x for me is like 30%-70% as compared to 10%-90% on my hybrid for same route.
I can maintain higher cadence on MTB so on a busy traffic day with multiple stops, my average speed is higher on MTB than hybrid. Hybrid definitely is faster IF the traffic flow is smooth and roads are smooth (generally NOT the case in Bengaluru)

So I love the MTB for the daily grinds and the hybrid is best for early morning sprints or long rides on hiways.

My thoughts on Hybrid Vs MTB is even though hybrid is spec wise faster than MTB, it depends on the fitness of the rider and the road-plus-traffic conditions how the rider do justice to those bikes.
For an average Joe, given the roads are getting worse every week and traffic congestion increasing, the MTB is better choice.
For a young-and-fit Jill, who has legs to power on 3-x gears with 70-90rpm cadence the hybrid should be the choice.

Thanks for brief overview. I've already made up my mind to get mtb after seeing for myself how slow and cautious I used to be on munich 21 when on city's internal road (which is 50% of my route).
Test rode madrock 27.5 and backbeat 27.5 yesterday and I found backbeat to be slightly more comfortable in riding position. Backbeat 27.5 is almost 2k expensive to madrock 27.5 with similar tech specs. Only change in backbeat is it has 80mm travel suspension with mech. lockout and bottom bracket mentions something like yongling 5pcs to madrocks 50mm suspension without lockout and sealed cartridge as bottom bracket.
My daily route being 50% city and 50% highway which one between madrock and backbeat should I consider.
Planning on getting my ride tomorrow.
