I booked myself a Diavel as well

      Hi there Saurav,

I booked myself a Ducati as well, in Standard Black. I am based in Mumbai so am in regular touch with the guys at the Ducati dealership here. They told me that the first lot of 2 diavel's have already landed in Mumbai since a few days, one is a Carbon Red (which I guess is yours) and the other is mine (standard black). As they had a big lot of bikes come over from Italy (over 31 other models), its taking them some time to clear customs etc.

Hopefully, our Diavels will be out shortly, and I will get my bike by June 7th and get a few days of riding before the monsoons hit the Mumbai coast.

I checked out the Diavel last week in London, its really cool, handles like a dream. Pulls like a freight train. I used to own a VMAX before (the old 1200 cc one) and have been riding big bikes for a long time and so am not so easily impressed these days (I rode the Nightrod a couple of times and thought the acceleration experience was average). But because of the riding stance and low end torque, the acceleration experience on this Devil is like no other bike. Because you are sitting upright with little wind protection, the acceleration is more pronounced. 162 ponies on a 210 kg bike kick serious ass.

I always wanted and was into power cruisers, which is why I bought the VMAX was back in 2003 (it was stolen in 2006 - if you can believe that). The new VMAX was my dream bike till the Diavel came along. Power cruiser performance + kick ass Italian custom bike styling + handling similar to a super naked = too good to pass up. I am sure with this thing under me, I can outgun any rider on the new VMAX on every day roads of India (maybe not straight line acceleration though).

Anyways, I also, booked myself some Ducati accessories for the diavel - the touring windscreen, the carbon black frame plugs and a carbon tank protector. I should get them by mid to end June.

Can't wait to get the bike. And to think, I almost passed up the idea of splurging on this baby. If it had not been for my wife's encouragement, I would not have taken this plunge (well, atleast not this year ).

So, for the benefit of the Xbhp'ers out there, who are really passionate about riding these big, bad ass bikes but get discouraged by their fancy price tags, let me say what I said in 2003 on this site, about 8 years ago (http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...eality-me.html),

"Live your dream, if you really want it, go get it". Save that dough, take that loan, live life a little. Be positive, and before you know it, the temporary financial hardship will go away...but the memories you create on your steed will stay with you for a very long time.

              Diavel Delivery update

              None from my end :9

Dealer tells me delivery will happen now in July first week...called me up to tell me why...reasonable cause for delay.

The xbhpian in Calcutta is getting his Carbon Red soon / or may have already got it. The Mumbai dealership had one display bike in their store...which I am told they have diverted to him...

                Thanks Vivek,
I await your feedback once you start galloping the beast.

I am a leisure biker, thus Motarrads or the Diavel will serve me for a long time. I am sure if you guys write more it will prompt me to get one myself by this fall.

                Cheers!

no words to describe the photography of Sunnybhai, and no words to describe sexappeal of the bike.

                      Still no DIAVEL

Still waiting for my Diavel to be delivered....dealer says next week...so counting the hours literally. I already got some accessories for the bike: Touring windscreen, frame plugs and carbon tank protector...but no bike

from what i have been told, 2 diamond black diavels are in this shipment, which is to be released. One is mine...and the other belongs to a Bollywood actor....

To be honest, the dealer has been very good to me. Whilst I have been waiting for the Diavel, I have been getting the Ducati display bikes on loan, first I had the Hypermortad 1100S for about 3 weeks and till recently, was riding the Multistrada 1200 for about 2 and a half weeks....

The Multistrada is an awesome bike by the way...have riden it for over 700 kms including 2 trips from Mumbai to Lonavala and back...will post my detailed impressions about it in another thread.....

                      cheers

^^ You serious ! You got 2 different bikes, by Ducati ! Did they charge something ? Or was it like for the privileged customer ?
Edit: Didn't read the post completely, they gave you the bike on loan, as in ?

                            Enter the Diavel

Alright lads, the Diavel is here. Took delivery yesterday evening, a rain soaked, traffic snarlled evening in Mumbai. Virtually rode the 12kms from the showroom to home in bumper to bumper traffic in first and second gear....Not the ideal way of running in a new bike, but what the heck...things could be worse

My wife has christened it 'TBS'....aka The Black Stallion . It looks and sounds like a million buck$$$$.

More on it in the coming days...hopefully the weekend will not be rain soaked in Mumbai and I will get to take it out of Mumbai.

                              Sunny's new ride

My wife and I were fortunate to have Sunny and PK overnight at our home near Seattle. The next day we took them over "The north Cascades hwy"One of the best rides here in Washington state.I have been riding Duc's for about 15 years and as you can guess love them. When I first saw pictures of the Diavel,I wasn't to keen on it.That was until Sunny gave it to me in the mountains to ride for a bit.OMG!!!!It's a good thing that the seat goes up in the back like it does.Keeps you on the bike! This thing is a ROCKET!!!(I got to 200kph in the blink of an eye)You roll it on and pull out to pass,by the time you get back into the lane what you have passed is just a speck in the mirror!AND it goes around corners like a "DUCATI"My jaw was aching from grinning so much. When I got off it I was at a loss for words.Took me a few minutes to get grounded so I could say anything other than WOW!It may not be styled for everyone, but don't mess with the guy that has one-Or you will get a good spanking!
