One question - this is something I have asked Haroon Bhai as well, with a compression ratio of 13.1, what kind of fuel is the minimum for this machine? In other If speed 97 is unavailable, what does the owner put in the fuel tank? Any adverse effects of putting Extra premium or Shell super?

After my trip, I am seriously considering bringing my GS permanently to India since service is also now available, but the fuel experience is one of the negative factors. The sticker on the tank of all BMW bikes & the operation manual says '95 or above only'. Here in Saudi Arabia our 95 is exact 95 (& unadultrated) so all bikes (K, R, F series) run perfectly fine. But like I mentioned on the other thread, I am seriously concerned about unleaded premium in India (which my googling & asking around said was 93 octane- correct me is I am wrong). BMW has an option to play around with the EFI to tweak it to take lower grade fuel, but on most international BMW forums they say that is more of a temporary fix if you are riding thru places where the recommended grade is unavailable and may not be good on the long term. I had read somewhere that Harleys sold in India have been reprogrammed to run smoothly on indian fuel (how true or credible? cant comment), so I dont know if BMW is going to do something like that. But highly unlikely.

I tried a full tank of 97 in bangalore on my GS and I felt the difference. That is, when fully loaded with luggage/passenger and when you go over 4500rpm almost in any gear the unleaded 'premium' did give a slight engine knocking, whereas the 97 was very smooth. Again the premium could have been adultrated fuel also, so I cant make a proper judgement. Have to check out with regular BMW riders in India how they feel.

True,the pillion seat is surprisingly extremely comfy along with the huge grab rails.
About the tranny,i tried the "Quick Shift" and boy isnt it fun,get perfect shifts without breaking a sweat!

Interesting.at around 5'7 i found it pretty comfortable with my XPD boots.never felt like i would lose balance even with a pillion

Again,very true.For a SBK,its pretty comfy...even though i was riding the "S" version..which is a Fullyfaired one.Even through the city it felt safe and comfy.
The amount of torque is laughable!you could even ride it in the 5th gear in the city!and even in the 6th gear,whack the throttle and see all that torque come in!
even at high speeds with pillion its pretty easy to take a corner keep your line.

Traction Control, Pillion and ambient heat
Traction control does a very,very good job and even through the city i couldn't feel the heat enough to complain on a SBK.

One of the greatest thing i like about the K1300S is that its got masculine looks compared to the alien-ship design of the mighty Busa and ZX,which not all ppl like(me :P)

@ Ranjith- Did you ride the Bahrain registered K1300S that was shown on Asianet TV last night?

I later realised that I was on a pretty steep incline. Besides, I was also at the softest end of suspension on the bike that I was given and I did not bother changing it. And only much later did I realise what actually the tip of the boots is when I rode the GS Adventure! I was struggling with it at every red light till I lowered the suspension to its max.

Wow! You rode the S version. You are lucky. I am pretty sure that it fully takes care of the wind factor.

The Torque is indeed laughable. The bike looks like it is laughing at everything else in its path leaving them for dust!
