Any of you guys have an idea about how much performance does the Hitchcock performance parts add to the GT?. Does Hitchcock has any dealers in India?

Though this bike as a product for customer is very good.
But as a asset for company, it has failed miserably.

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review

Four years ago, I was ovewhelmed by old world the charm of the RE Classic 500 and instantly fell in love with it . I'd relocated to a new city and needed a bike for commute . Without second thought booked the C5 . Months passed by and I still didn't get the bike . My need to commute surpassed my hearts desire for a Classic. The dealer also had a Honda showroom adjacent to RE, transferred the booking to Honda and got a Unicorn Dazzler in a week . On my way out with the Dazzler a gleaming new C5 gave me a wicked smile that almost said 'you'll be back' ..

That was the first time I let go of a Royal enfield.

Two years laters I rode a friends brand new C5 and fell in in love with the bike all over again . Went to the same dealer and paid the booking amount and started the wait all over. But this time too fate had other plans . I had to move to the US for a project and wasn't sure when i'd make my return . Went to the showroom and said goodbye to the Classic once again !

I got back from the US a couple of months later and priorities changed . I got a new mid sized car and used it for my daily commute. The Classic had become commonplace now and lots of people had it and somehow my frezy for the bike died down a little . But still every time a Royal Enfield passed by I could feel the thump in my heart and a longing, for something was missing...

The heart wants what the heart desires !

On my to the office one day, I noticed a huge glass building , it was a brand new RE showroom on the outskirts of the city . Instinctively, I went in and checked it out , and there it was, one of the most beautiful bikes i've ever seen , the RE Continental GT . It was love at first sight all over again . I had a cbz with clip on handlebars in college and the GT had the same kind of clip ons and riding posture . The test drive was thunderous and nostalgic ( I touched 130 ). The GT was just perfect !

Got my Continental GT Yellow delivered on the 4th and finally the Dream had become a reality . Proud owner of a Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 !

P.S : First post on xBhp ! Happy to be here , keep up the good work guys ...

This might be your 1st post but it really was heart-touching. I haven't seen the continental GT in person as its not available anywhere near my place but it surely is a beauty. I wish to own one someday when I start earning. An RC390 and the GT in my garage along with my NS is all I dream of. If only......

Tubeless + Spokes is one of the best combo for touring! Another reason for me to get even more smitten by GT

Now what else one can expect from 2 lakh bike with 535 cc engine and the looks to die for and then comes along tagging the RE legacy. Wow!! I must say.

Appreciate RE for this, appreciate them for creating this beautiful machine and bringing back a tradition (as they say) which just resist to fade away(as they say)

Well i hate to be the bearer of a not so good news, but all the above claims of the tyre being tubeless are not completely true... Yes, the tyre is indeed tubeless, but on the continental GT, it is being used with an inner tube.. So says the disclaimer on the owners manual of COntinental GT, which reads exactly as below:

                          Disclaimer
 This model fitted with “tubeless tyre” is provided with
                          an inner tube.
 Failure to use an inner tube in a spoked wheel will
cause deflation of the tyre resulting in loss of
                          motorcycle control.
 The approved tyres marked with “TUBELESS” are
suitable for use with inner tube.

Please be weary of making any modification plans or purchase plans.... Hope this helps, and Im not too late...

                          Cheers!

                            Hi,

I'm very keen on purchasing the Continental GT and have been drooling over the bike for the past few weeks. The only problem is that more often than not, I will need to use it with a pillion seat to take the Wifey along and she hates the way it looks with the pillion seat

I absolutely adore this bike but I must admit the bike loses a certain portion of its charm with the pillion seat. The pillion is just too flat for my liking. Using it as a single seater all the time is impractical considering that my better half tags along on rides occasionally.

Could anybody shed some light on if it would be possible to purchase the pillion seat and then have it modified/reupholstered to look like an elongated version of the single seat or at least to resemble the RD350 seat (curved at the very end)?

I had been to RE showroom couple of weeks back and saw a Continental GT with a third type of seat other than the regular single and regular pillion seat. It was essentially a long seat for pillion but there was a small attachment fixed on the seat to make it appear like a single seat. This was fixed using a key lock arrangement. Of course, the contraption doesn't look as pretty as the original single seat but gets the job done. Sorry but I did not click a picture then. But hopefully, you should be able to find it in the showroom.

I spoke to the sales manager at my local RE showroom and he informed me that the attachment you are referring to is given along with the pillion seat. I was told it's a fibre cap that is attached to the pillion seat with 4 screws. Though it looks better than the plain pillion seat, it doesn't solve my problem as one cannot sit on the attached cap and removing it involves carrying a screw driver around at all times and the pillion would have to carry the cap while seated on the bike. At the end of the day when two people are sitting on the bike its going to be the same flat pillion seat. That's why i wanted to know if the flat pillion seat could be modified to look a tad better.
