Has anybody experienced any issues with the speedometer & tachometer vibrating at certain RPMs? Vibrates with a sharp noise at around 3000 RPM but stops the moment I place my hand on it.

I had the service center take a look at it and the response I got was "Sir, there's nothing we can do. In fact you should take a look at how the Thunderbird's vibrates."

Are the vibrations due to resonance or could there be another reason?

I have not had any such noises you mention. Just have a check on the bolts holding the meters in place or are the chrome rings on the meters vibrating? Have read about many issues of the chrome rings flying off the meters.

Definitely not the bolts as that was the only thing they checked. I'm assuming it could be the chrome rings. Difficult to determine as the whole meter tends to vibrate but not sure what's generating the noise. Any idea if the chrome rings can be replaced separately or would I need to purchase the whole meter again?

Update: The chrome rings weren't loose so clearly that wasn't the cause of the noise. Raised the issue with Enfield customer support post which the service centre examined the issue with much greater care than they did during my previous visit. The speedometer assembly will be replaced on Monday free of cost as it is still under warranty.

That's great. Royal Enfield seems to be serious about its customers now.
The warranty is 2 years now,that's what I was said when I had got my GT delivered. Btw have you done any mods? I was thinking about getting the RRP free flow exhaust,have heard that the engine runs free without stress and the top end is really improved and smooth but I want to ride a GT with that exhaust installed before I take the plunge.

Yes, after hearing so many horror stories about RE''s sub-standard customer service I must say that their customer support team has been very helpful till date.

No mods done till now. I wanted to maintain the stock look so I haven't even installed a crash bar. I did buy a custom twin seat for the rare occasions when my wife may want to tag along. The showroom did ask me if I wanted an after market exhaust but I think that was a Wild Boar (not too sure) but I wasn't interested at the time.

The RRP one sounds promising. Do let me know if you decide to purchase one. If it does improve the performance as you said, I would definitely be interested.

I doubt if it goes much beyond 140 but yes it definitely will go well beyond the 115 that I rode it to. The RE people themselves stated that the bike did fall well short of the ton (100 mph) mark which was the magic figure for the 60's cafe racers. But yes the acceleration is nice between 2000 - 4000 rpm.




I am not sure [MENTION=26348]giridhar[/MENTION] whether the tyres are tubeless or not. I missed asking about that. Spoked wheels for tubeless tyres are pretty expensive and so maybe the Sport Demons used here come with tubes.



If people (including your's truly) can tour on the Duke 200 then the Conti too would be eminently tourable. The seat is plush enough but quite narrow and so a couple of hours do make you feel butt-sore. The riding position is quite comfortable though with a slightly forward tilted torso. Of course you need to be able to take the load off your wrists by using a tight torso core and knees firmly gripping the tank recesses.

I did a test ride last week and totally agree with Old Fox's review. Also, rightly said, the bike is worth every penny spent! Though, I did feel discomfort in my palms as they started paining after 10 mins of ride. Did adjust the clutch and front brake levers down so that my palms, wrists and elbows were in a straight downline, which did help but not to a great extent. I dont know if the clip ons can be adjusted front / back to release that pressure..asked the showroom guys and they didnt have any clue. Would be helpful if someone can let me know if the clip ons can be adjusted.

Four years ago, I was ovewhelmed by old world the charm of the RE Classic 500 and instantly fell in love with it . I'd relocated to a new city and needed a bike for commute . Without second thought booked the C5 . Months passed by and I still didn't get the bike . My need to commute surpassed my hearts desire for a Classic. The dealer also had a Honda showroom adjacent to RE, transferred the booking to Honda and got a Unicorn Dazzler in a week . On my way out with the Dazzler a gleaming new C5 gave me a wicked smile that almost said 'you'll be back' ..

That was the first time I let go of a Royal enfield.

Two years laters I rode a friends brand new C5 and fell in in love with the bike all over again . Went to the same dealer and paid the booking amount and started the wait all over. But this time too fate had other plans . I had to move to the US for a project and wasn't sure when i'd make my return . Went to the showroom and said goodbye to the Classic once again !

I got back from the US a couple of months later and priorities changed . I got a new mid sized car and used it for my daily commute. The Classic had become commonplace now and lots of people had it and somehow my frezy for the bike died down a little . But still every time a Royal Enfield passed by I could feel the thump in my heart and a longing, for something was missing...

On my to the office one day, I noticed a huge glass building , it was a brand new RE showroom on the outskirts of the city . Instinctively, I went in and checked it out , and there it was, one of the most beautiful bikes i've ever seen , the RE Continental GT . It was love at first sight all over again . I had a cbz with clip on handlebars in college and the GT had the same kind of clip ons and riding posture . The test drive was thunderous and nostalgic ( I touched 130 ). The GT was just perfect !

Got my Continental GT Yellow delivered on the 4th and finally the Dream had become a reality . Proud owner of a Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 !
