I can see that, however, the power delivery of both the bikes are different, the braking, the handling, their weights also differ.. how is the cornering of the 200 compared to the 300? I don't think that it will be the same.. They sure do have the same ergonomics and everything, but the 200 has a smaller engine, no abs, a note on the braking and handling the power delivery, the grip and braking since the 200 has no ABS etc. will be really awesome.

The 390 review is just amazing.. However, the 200 is what we were actually looking for.

Saw a post saying the RVM quality is not good and it broke.

Thanks for the review and as usual great pictures. I had expected some more detailed review but since there are many reviews of the RCs on the auto sites a short review is ok. But one thing you missed is the riding experience on the streets because even though this is a great track bike 99% of the owners will be riding it on the streets and that kind of review would have been very useful.

It would be nice to know if you noticed any difference in the alloy wheels of the RC as compared to Dukes.

The KTM RC's gets manufactured for the world (from India).. we get it (at this price) because we are lucky to be in the land where it gets manufactured.

Few queries from my end...

What is the wattage of headlamp bulbs.?

How comfortable or not is the rear seat ...say as compared to P220 or P200NS. Is there scope for pillion rider to move around little bit (size of seat) and if possible can you post a pic of the bike with pillion seat occupied.

Is it possible to mount saddlebags (due to contour and shape of rear seat) ?

How about tank bags (the ones not intended for ktm dukes)..like normal sized ones..and not peanut sized ones.

How many kms to a litre.? Range ?

The bike does not look big when seen in person.

Any idea when they will start offering test rides.

Great review and pics as usual.

The beginner bike segment is certainly catching up here in the US and these two will definitely heat up things. A lot of KTM enthusiasts and seasoned riders are looking forward to this (esp RC 390) for fun on track days and daily city roundabouts.

Wonderful review! 2.05 for this machine is really an awesome price point! I'm sure lot of bikers will opt for this one. True, India needs better representation at competitive circuit and such bikes will fuel the growth of racing in country. Racers, your machine is here!! Get set Wrooooooom!!

1. Why sell the Ninja 300 in India?
Ans: Kawasaki is not known for basic / entry level products (unlike Yamaha and Honda). The Ninja 300 is it’s entry (the Z250 will be the next) for India

2. Ninja 300 gets “assembled” in India.. and priced at 4 lakh plus.. limited sales but must be enough as it does not need to maintain a production line/logistics/parts manufacturing/manpower

Honda

1. Why it got the CBR250R in India?
Ans: Had to make a statement (take away Yamaha India’s mindshare) in India, more so as it was breaking away with Hero.
Also tried to break into what was thought as the next big segment of motorcycling in India (but its actually Royal Enfield that has been able to break though that segment)

2. “Manufactures" CBR250R in India.. priced around 2 lakh.. sales numbers not that great (for that price range – compare it to Royal Enfield’s 25K plus monthly numbers)

3. Whether the CBR250R’s sales numbers have justified setting up the production base in India?
Debatable

KTM

1. Why get the RC 200/390 in India at around 2 lakhs?
Ans: Since it gets manufactured in India

2. Even if the KTM manages small sales numbers what Honda does with its CBR250R, it won’t give a headache as the RC’s get manufactured for the world from India. Any number in India will just add to the overall number.

Yamaha

Does it need the R25 in India?

1. “Assembling” the made in Indonesia R25 in India just because Kawasaki assembles the Ninja 300 (and price it at the same level) doesn’t make any business sense. Unlike Kawasaki, Yamaha India does not sell bikes that start with 250/300 cc.

2. Even if the R25 is “manufactured” in India and (supposedly) priced at CBR250R’s level, most certainly it still won’t generate more sales than the CBR250R (aam Janata won’t pay 2 lakhs for an additional cylinder and they can get a full faired R15 at 1.25 lakhs) and certainly won’t disturb Royal Enfields numbers.

3. Yamaha doesn’t really need to make a statement with the R25 as it has already done it in 2008 with the R15 (which still sells in decent numbers, compared to the CBR250/250R)

Unless of course Yamaha India is with its back to the wall like how it was before the R15 and FZ was launched in 2008.

Even then, the R25 doesn't blow away Indian Biker's mind in 2014 like what the R15 did in 2008.
