Also I asked them about Teflon coating for the bike...the showroom guys gave me a cost of 2500 bucks; and suggested to go for Laquering instead, saying that it lasts much longer; but costs 5k!!!
Can anybody throw more light on this? Is laquering effective and is the cost justified? or can I get it done from somewhere outside?

Also could someone please tell me if fitting HID lights would void the warranty?I'm especially not happy with the single light on low beam...
OKies i too picked from pacer but my 1st service was done well...

Coming to teflon take ur bike to panache motors on old madras road they will get it done for 650 bucks its damn neat..
lacquering is better than teflon but if you have the money then you may do it... But i wudnt personally suggest tht...

    HID's will void warranty...

The R15 has the v-ixion engine tuned for more power. The entire body is the same too minus the front fairing. The UCE is imported from indonesia while the Steel Deltabox frame is made in India. To this add frontal brackets and a new fairing (supp. wind tunnel designed) and a revised handlebar/headlights and you have the R 1 5.

          R15 does 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds . . FZ16 does 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds.
But why there is a talk that R15 is sluggish in lower rpms and FZ16 is brutal enough to rule the streets?

Cos, higher torque=more pulling power+lower RPM needs.
And on street, not every person can be capable of accelerating at high RPMs like me n u. SO, that's where a high-torque FZ comes into play..it pulls awesomely right from the beginning(supposedly..dint ride it yet).

My First Ride Impression of the R15

I am just coming back after riding a new R15 (black/red) for 60 oddkms in the city (traffic/open roads), here are my observations:
              • The bike did not come across to be smooth
              • The cornering ability of the bike was fantastic
              • From the rider's seat I felt if I was sitting on a modified bike, there was a lot of empty space around the console area.
              • The finish was not top notch, I could see a side of the foam near the visor and the meter assembly coming out
              • It is very very rev hungry. Till 5k rpm there is no respectable power, specially if you want to accelerate from a slow moving traffic in 2nd or 3rd gear.
              • The stickiness of the tyres was very good. I would any day prefer 110 at least instead of the skinny 100 which do not go at all with the overal bike (i am not alking about their practicality on a track, I am riding on a road in city traffic here.

Hey all you R15 owners out there, whats the scene with spares & Yamaha's after sales service now ? I remember you guys had a difficult time getting air filters in the first month of its release.

I have seen a R15 in Bangladesh about a month ago. It looked a bit small but liked the overall look minus rear tyre.
A limited amount of r15 is now available here but the price is really primium (almost 300000 Tk onroad price). I think it is too much price for a 150cc bike no matter how good it is.

oh man. Paints and fairing look of pretty good quality. Can't say the same for the overall looks of the bike....
