kenda - one more excellent write up by you, i loved the monster snaps and the way the test ride was wrote, simple answering majority of the questions what a newbie can have in his mind, again the 180 speeeeeed you touched with one gear still left on a air cooled engine is really something what the marketing team can use as the best weapon to sell their bikes in india.

You can adjust just the preload. That will not make much of a difference. It is nonlink type monoshock.Originally posted by csajal View PostDid a bit of googling, and found that the Sachs rear suspension unit is adjustable at preload, so guess a little experiment with that could do away with the suspension observation Ken Da made
I never crossed 120Kmph on the V-Strom and on the Honda CB500 both with topcases. I personally had problems coz I am not used to it I guess. They all ride with it to be able to stack their helmets. But of course, it is REALLY useful to carry luggage in.Originally posted by Sunny View Post^I am sorry but i dont think its the case (pun intended). I dont intend to hit 180 kmph like you did, plus the crosswinds are always more of a concern on a full faired bike.
I was just voicing my concerns. For people making the trip to be better prepared.
Thanks.Originally posted by Shivanshu View PostKen Da great pics I couldnt go through the text will read later...

That is a fifteen year old motorcycle. Even if it were to come I have my doubts if it would pass pollution norms of today's standards!Originally posted by nidhaye View Post@Ken Do you think there is a remote chance that the Monster 400 would make it to India? I think its an exclusive model for Japan. Wishful thinking....
At 44bhp and 33Nm of Torque, it would not be a bad bike. But I do think that it is outdated. The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Thanks for the impressions! It made for an excellent read.
A couple of questions -
What fuel rating is recommended for the monster? expecially the 796 ( CR= 11:1 )
As mentioned in the previous post - if you have tried 796, how do you compare the two?Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

@Satyenpoojary
All this I'm aware, and anyway these kind of info and much more is easily available in many websites...besides I ddin't understand the post vis-a-vis my queries
My question was related to driving impressions as Ken has described in the first post (i.e, if he has ridden the 796 as well) and the recommended octane rating.Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

For any other bike Ken i would have given this writeup above average marks, but for a Ducati?!!
This is sacrilege.
Blasphemy.
And no this is not Sparta.
Ducati carries a bit more fuzziness in the pants than all of the Japs combined. Now i know most of the indian journos get carried away with the bigger bikes, and fairly so, but describing ducati in such placid and insipid terms is like describing Scarlett Johansson as just sexy. or Chicken Chettinad as tasty. No sir it is not just tasty it is mike tyson's upper cut on your balls and hollyfield's left cut to your face. It is chitrangada singh bumping into you at a local superstore. While wearing clothes made from chocolate. Melting chocolate at that.
It is the jolt from the paramedics to get your heart restarted.
Or some such.
You were writing about ducati man, at least a few more exclamation marks would have been nice, if not just.
I am distraught.
Am going to open a new window and ogle at the monster to get over this.

Really? or did i miss the Boratesque "Not" joke in the end. :P
Btw just finished skimming through the second issue of the magazine. The Spiti feature is just awesome. More so maybe because i have not been able to do it for sometime now. Also the gixxer and bandit's ride were fun too. But i still maintain it is the website in a magazine, which is not a bad thing by any means, but there is something missing. And till the time i find that something i will stop being a critic.
Maybe it is just that am used to reading the regular formatted magazine for more than a decade now.
Anyways keep up the good work.

Heating Issues in Traffic
Does this bike heat up a lot in Indian city traffic conditions?
All the Euro and American forums generally opine that 1100 or 1100S does heat up in traffic. Now if they are complaining, one can only wonder what happens in India!
Can someone indicate how much is the heat build up, compared to an Enfield Bullet CI engine? Say for a travel through pretty dense traffic (top speed - 40 kmph, average - 20 kmph) for upwards of 30 minutes?
