Guys even the bcmtouring is trying to help by the same method. Why dont we work with them to raise the funds?? It would reduce the shipping costs by a large amount.

Guys, I am a trustee in an NGO based here in Bangalore, and our main activity is to accept donations only in kind, and pass it on the people who need them.

Let me tell you out of experience that most of the initial influx of donations in kind like clothes etc are more often than not wasted. I strongly feel that donating clothes, especially to Leh, may not be such a good idea.

In any case, a close friend of mine, and myself are going to Leh for my annual Himalayan ride in the end of September. I am making myself available as a means to transport anything, be it in kind or to deliver funds that xBhpians have pooled in.

Please, lets us have a G2G /awareness drive. We should be supporting our Leh brothers and sisters, not just with money and kind. But with moral support too, I dont know how many of us can go to Leh, But i bet everyone can come to the g2g, and we can show our support. And maybe make other people realise the gravity of the situation.

If you ask any average joe which event they remember from the past week, they will say Meter Jam. Its sad that people don't value lives more than money. There will be very few who cared to follow the disaster. Lets turn this around?

Seniors, i bet many will show up if you call for a g2g. We all respect the seniority hierarchy here, so people will take time and come if you call.

There was an article in the TOI yesterday where the Prime Minister has appealed to the citizens to come forward for the Leh tragedy and donate to the Prime Minister's Fund. See here: Article Window

Do we want to donate the amount we collect to the PM's fund?

frankly speaking if we are doing this cause on a national level through XBHP than it would be really great and if we ourselves collect the money buy things necessary and handover those things to them than it would be better as i dont believe in other relief funds and all with the amount of corruption involved in our country.

Its time we stand up for Ladakh and Ladakhis. I am sure xBhp will go and ahead and make a difference for the better in a tragedy of this magnitude. We, at BCMTouring have raised 1.4 lakh rupees and our relief material consisting of drinking water, blankets for the upcoming winter and medicines have either reached Leh or on the way.

                Cheers,
                Shamik

I hope it will be good enough.

                      Hi Mates!

I just spoke with Manisha from Samarpan Organization. Was informed that she was in Leh managing the relief work. Their organization is aiming at building houses for which they would require cash, cement, construction steel etc. Have a look at their website and let us know how you think they would be good to us!
