You should check the Rajdoots being modded into a rickshaw of sorts in Gujarat!

    Urban:
Virgin airlines once started a chauffeur ridden Harley Davidson pickup for its business class guests...
You should probably see the doodhwaalahs here with thier custom juggad on ferrying HUGE milk cans!
Sure Satyen, I have seen all that and more. Just want to know what other useful commercial application ideas we can come up with.

While in UK, I came across the concept of Passenger Bikes, upto 1300cc. Comfortable, huge and fast, especially in London traffic. Best option to reach congested areas in London city, fastest from airport. Less expensive than taking UK trains.

ya, you must have seen Virgin Limobike Virgin Limobikes

they use Yamaha FJR1300 and are faster than black cabs and red buses.

Bike taxi is a nice concept and something like this can work in NCR and mumbai, I suppose. Indian USP: Female rider for female passenger in those late night hours?

Nope, they were not affiliated to any airlines. They were a private company with comfort and safety as their priorities. They had a fleet of Honda STX1300, Pan European fitted with ABS, which is one of the most comfortable and reliable motorbikes available in UK. To ensure you can sit back and relax during your journey, each bike is fitted with a custom made back rest, and to enhance your comfort further, the bikes are fitted with an electrically adjustable windscreen which can be raised when travelling at higher speeds. It is a natural choice for Passenger Bikes in UK.

ya, its not surprising that there is more than one bike-taxi company in London. With the amount of congestion at the present, the cars shouldn't be even allowed inside London. Have heard that gov. is planning to put up that rule during 2012 Olympics.

There is already a tax on all vehicles entering specific zones within London City called the London Congestion Charge. My stay in UK made me feel like "Alice in Wonderland". Its a wonderful country and a really beautiful place to live in.

Possibilities are in hundreds in India. The question is how and who can pull it off seamlessly. If I had an investor, I would love to start up such business projects in India any day, any year.

cant really go that far. something in north would be the best scenario.

                        I hope that wasn't a serious suggestion!

Btw, from a investor point of view, I'm still not sure if this would be financially viable for whoever is running it. How much do they charge in Goa and how? Per KM? Or fixed at start of journey?

More than taxis, I am interested in motorcycle chaffeurs. Owning & operating a car+chaffeur can become an expensive affair. Whats more, you will end up taking double the time as compared to a bike.

If there can be riders services available, then people like me can ride pillion and take 'con' calls on the move and avoid staying back in office

No but seriously, I wish something like this comes up

Im serious. If they can have cycle ambulances elsewhere in the world, why not motorcycle ambulances in rural India?

Theres more serious uses for a motorcycle than just taxi's too.

Haha.. that idea sounds good, but will the 'chauffeur' be riding your bike or a bike of his own? If he is gonna be riding yours, how the heck is he going to go back to his work?!

I don't think you can have a critical patient on a motorcycle without having someone (illegally) sit behind the patient as the second pillion to hold the patient up on the mo-bike.

motorcyles are always a quick way to get from point A to B but making it a lifesaving machine requires a skilled (paramedic) rider. you cant just fit in a regular "somebody" on the bike and send him on a 100 call. though if you talking about more rural reach, you will loose the commercial interest of it.
