Sad demise of Varun

I remember him welcoming us and cracking me up at the track when a bunch of us drove down to Chennai for one of the R15 races. He'd always badger me to come out to every trackday that he'd organise.

I met varun (legend alive/wonder boy) in 2006 through xbhp. i was happy to have gained a good friend in him, we were friends apart from biking too. i've never met another person who is as chilled and has an easy going nature like varun. during his himalayan ride (which he still considers to be the ride of his life), called me up and scared me saying he crashed pretty bad breaking his tooth, ever since it was almost a regular thing for him to crash his motorcycle. he lived without any restrictions, not bothering about things around. every time he used to ride like mad and crash we yell at him and he goes on with the usual "mama, ive mastered the art of crashing safely da" pun. he had the kind of nature that made him gain more friends than foes, his bubbly and totally friendly character is something very unique and totally down to earth. The innumerable rides we both have done, the day before our exams we rode 300kms to a dhaba in vellore and back. In 2008, we both had our maiden laps on the MMSC race track together, which he had been hooked to ever since. i still remember how we used to fight and play tourist trophy on play station trying to better each others lap times around nurburgring. after all the dramatic twists he went through with one major accident last year, we were really happy to see him recover and start a new lease of life in australia. it was only 2 weeks back that he arrived in chennai for a vacation and went straight for the california superbike school, just when things were turning out good for him comes this totally unexpected uncalled for event. The last thing i had ever wanted to see in my whole life was my dear friend dead and kept wrapped up. It was only 2 days back that i had spoken to him planning things for the coming weekend and today he is gone. his dream to own a superbike and do lot more things in life are shattered. The pain of missing you cannot be put in words, I am going to be missing you all my life varun. may your soul rest in peace and i pray god to give your parents enough strength and more to withstand your absence.RIP - VARUN 7.2.2011
