  • Bike Stolen Mumbai : Yellow Yamaha R15

The bike belongs to a xBhp member Prasanna Talekar, please see the details of the bike below.

Guys my bike has been stolen from Bandstand, Bandra. Its a YELLOW YAMAHA R15 ( MH 02 BS 5663 ). I've lodged a complaint at Bandra police station , but they dont seem to take much interest and neither sound very helpful when i inquire about it.
I would request the fellow members (especially from Mumbai) to keep and eye on the road or their locality for a yellow r15 with the above said number. If you find anything information/suspicious about a yellow r15 please do contact me on 9821449245.

    Yellow Yamaha R15 - MH 02 BS 5663
    Engine No. 38B1009704
    Chassis No.ME138B015A2010427...

Request everyone to keep an eye on the road.

i'm in Pune so wont be able to help on the look out

but a little advice from me is that you should check all the places where they take bikes parked in no parking

found my brothers rx the same way.....when these guys cant complete their target they pickup any bikes and take them away

Best of Luck Hope you find your bike soon
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

How long has it been since your bike was stolen?

Any other visual identification apart form the color, registration, engine & chassis number?

If you remember, josh's bike had been stolen from bandra west close to bandstand too...

He never got the bike ! He tried hard ! May be you want to check with him!

what i know of is that there is group of people who dismantle bike immediately and hence cannot be tracked.

Was the bike out of your sight for long? hope u had insurance running.

Things have gone very very bad for me mate. I had parked along a line up of bikes at bandstand (Opp. Camp Juice Centre ) at around 6.30pm and went on to sit about 40-50metres away beside the promenade. I could sight my bike's front (the headlight part) from where i was sitting.Kept a check on it every 15-20mins. After an hour or so it went slight dark (7.20pm) m i couldnt see my bike , worrying that towing must have taken it i ran to quickly went to place where i had parked , this is when i realised that i had no keys in my pocket and forgotten them on the bike itself , still i tried at the traffic police chowki in bandra and they said they hadn't towed it. So , by 8.15 i registered a complaint at Bandra police station.
Now to make things worst , my insurance had expired a week back and i had called up my agent same morning which the incident happened.

With all the above said , i know its completely my mistake forgetting the keys and also with the insurance part , but i still can't beleive myself leaving the keys , it had never ever happened with me before , it somehow happened with the wrong people around

No dude , it was in absolute mint condition. There's just one distinguished thing not sure if many could figure it out , i had removed the fuel tank a few days back and didn't place the properly so there's a small gap between the fairing and the tank.
I know its gonna be hard to find out , it could only be checked if its park or at a still.

I feel really sorry for you mate. How old is your bike? You can try contacting all the yamaha and other service stations and inform about your bike and details. If it is taken to any service stations they may inform you in the best case. May sound impossible but nothing harm in giving it a try than doing nothing!

It had just completed 1year and 8000kms , bought it in June 2010 so the one year insurance had just been expired

I've given the bike details for svc's in Mumbai and Thane. Hoping for good.

@ Penno, bro don't worry about leaving the keys on the bike and not beng able to claim insurance. In 2004 the same thing had happened to me, I had left my Pulsar 180 keys on the bike, near National College (I was studying MBA at IIPM).
My bike was stolen and I still got the insurance claim, despite having forgotten the keys on the bike. I had the spare key, and I claimed that I only had one since I had lost the other one ages ago. So this was not a problem to claim insurance.

I had to deal with Khar Police Station, and yes they were lethargic in following up. So after three months, they gave me a "certificate" saying they had done their investigation and were unsuccessful in tracing the bike. This certificate was then handed to the insurance company, who processed my claim. I don't know if you will have a problem since your insurance has expired just recently, but you can always try and plead with your insurance provider.

My bike was eventually traced at Yellowgate Stn. a year later (never knew such a place existed in Mumbai!) but it was handed over to the insurance company, who auctioned it off. I hope you find your bike soon, and I will keep an eye out for it between Andheri and Bandra.

It's unfortunate that your bike has been stolen but do you people really think that the thieves are stupid enough to continue using the bike with the same registration number in the same city ??

It's unrealistic to expect that IMHO...

Your best best is to keep following up with the Bandra police and get a certificate from them that the bike could not be traced. Then claim insurance...if your insurance policy expired then it can be extremely difficult to get the money from them since they are there to do business and not charity.

I hope the police trace your bike soon. And yes, be prepared to pay the police some bribe if they trace the bike or if you want the certificate...corrupt policemen suck...

Sorry to hear about your loss dude but to be realistic following are the problems in your case,

Most of the time high profile car's n bikes which are stolen usually go to any chop shop's in city where they are ripped apart and part's are then sold in market

Since your insurance had expired you cannot claim loss. Only chance to do so is if you can arrange a renewal cover note back dated prior to incidence as if your stolen report is prior to your insurance renewal date you cannot claim the loss

The only chance you can get your bike back is if some1 took it for a joy ride finding the keys in ignition and leaves once he/she is satisfied

Yes, luckily for me, it was.

The cops don't usually demand a bribe for the "certificate" they provide after 3 months of so-called investigation. But they can delay it, saying they have too many things on their plate. A couple of hundreds should then do the trick..worked for me; since I was a student then, it was easier to make them feel sorry for me.

The closest Chop-Shop for automobiles to Bandra is Kurla, especially the Automobile Spares Market adjoining Kapadia Nagar near LBS Road. Its also known as Kurla's own Chor Bazaar for Automobile Spares. Check it ASAP.
